Well, he's my president now. So I need to give him my support until you loses the right to have it.

Not that I agree with all of his aims, some of them I do. Plus, he's not Bush, which is a plus is many ways (just not in the defense of my country).

    *sigh*

What I really want is just for someone to make it a better...even if only a little.

I don't agree with a lot of programs either, but I was extremely impressed with his first few days.

Or maybe it's because the bar was so damn low after Bush

No. 125 was already agreed upon by Bush and the Iraqi gov't...the date was set for May something 2010.

Again, not that I agree with all of his decisions, but you do have to give him credit for making so many decisive moves on day 1.

I also liked his gesture of pointedly including a Republican in his cabinet. Wait...that almost sounds horrific.

Obama ends funding ban for abortion groups abroad
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – President Barack Obama on Friday will lift restrictions on U.S. government funding for groups that provide abortion services or counseling abroad, reversing a policy of his Republican predecessor George W. Bush, an administration official said.
"It will be today. He's going to make an executive order (lifting the global gag rule)," the official said.
The Democratic president's decision is a victory for advocates of abortion rights on an issue that has become a tit-for-tat policy change each time the White House shifts from one party to the other in recent years.
When the ban was in place, no U.S. government funding for family planning services could be given to clinics or groups that offer abortion services or counseling in other countries even if the funds for those activities come from non-U.S. government sources.
It has been called the Mexico City Policy because it was unveiled at a United Nations conference there in 1984 and became one of the centerpiece social policies of the conservative administration of Republican former President Ronald Reagan.
Former President Bill Clinton rescinded the rule when he took office in January 1993 and his successor, Republican George W. Bush, reinstated it in January 2001

I hope that he is talking about adding more full time jobs in the US and not in the overseas businesses.

He has mentioned keeping and creating jobs here in America.

I'm a sucker when it comes to kids needing help.....

    Obama signs SCHIP
Updated: Wednesday, February 4th, 2009 | By Angie Drobnic Holan

Back in 2007, President Bush twice vetoed legislation expanding SCHIP, a health insurance program for low-income children. Democrats vowed it would be one of the first things they addressed under a new administration.

On Feb. 4, 2009, President Obama signed a new SCHIP law.

"I refuse to accept that millions of our kids fail to reach their full potential because we fail to meet their basic needs," Obama said at the signing ceremony. "In a decent society, there are certain obligations that are not subject to tradeoffs or negotiation — health care for our children is one of those obligations."

    Promise Kept.

    House passes SCHIP
Updated: Sunday, January 18th, 2009 | By Angie Drobnic Holan

Even before Obama took office, the House of Representatives approved an expansion of the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP). It passed, 289-139, on Jan. 14, 2009.

Obama praised the vote and said he wants SCHIP to be "one of the first measures I sign into law when I am president."

If it passes the Senate, he'll get his wish. We rate this promise In the Works.

No. 220: Reinstate special envoy for the Americas

The Promise: "In the past, American presidents have filled the position of special envoy to bring senior-level attention to hemispheric matters that might otherwise get buried in the normal diplomatic process. Unfortunately, the position was eliminated after the post was vacated in June of 2004. As president Barack Obama will reinstate the position."

No. 520: If you don't have insurance, or don't like the insurance you have, you'll be able to choose a new plan on a health insurance exchange

The Promise: "If you don't have insurance, or don't like your insurance, you'll be able to choose from the same type of quality private plans as every federal employee - from a postal worker here in Colorado to a congressman in Washington. All of these plans will cover essential medical services including prevention, maternity, disease management and mental health care. No one will be turned away because of a pre-existing condition or illness."
Update January 18th, 2011: State-based exchanges will create insurance options>> More
