FORT PIERCE — A flap over chicken wings between two siblings landed one in jail after he allegedly pulled a knife and threatened to cut his brother, according to a recently released arrest affidavit.
Calvin Edwards, 48, faces aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and battery charges following the Tuesday fracas in the 1100 block of Warrick Drive.
Edwards’ brother told police an argument erupted as the two of them and their mother were in the kitchen. The brother said he and Edwards were “scuffling over chicken wings when Calvin pulled a small pocket knife and threatened to cut him,” the affidavit states. The brother backed away and went to notify authorities, fearing he’d be cut.
Edwards said he was looking in the oven for a wing, and planned to take out a tray of wings when his brother told him to get the other tray.
Edwards said his mother and brother started yelling at him and said he “needed to defend himself.”
The mother said her sons were fighting in the kitchen when Edwards pulled a knife on his brother.
The brother said his only injury came from when Edwards scratched his wrist.
Police didn’t find the knife.
