Best of luck!
...so I took the LA County Sheriff test last weekend and passed! Now I'm scheduled for an interview in March.
I've been watching videos on the Academy. It's very similar to Marine Corps boot camp, so I it shouldn't be much of a culture shock for me.Hulu - Videos
Best of luck!

Now that's pretty cool!
What did you do before?

Sell out!
Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012
Hard to believe that you went from the Corps to the Army? :-)

Best of luck, sounds exciting to me xx Julie xx
Had my interview last week. It was pretty easy, actually it was a joke! I waited an hour and the interview only lasted 10 mins. The deputy asked me 3 to 5 questions and that was it! Now I have to fill out a 17 pg. application/questionaire and provide several personal documents for my background check. I was told that the whole process could take up to 6 months!![]()

Yup, that was just to get the process started.
From here on out, just act like a young natty Marine, they'll like that.
especially when you're in front of that board.
That background investigation is rough though, be honest with them, cause 'their likely to know more about you than you thought you knew about you'.

Yep, the oral boards are intense. They'll start out asking you basic questions about yourself and let you get comfortable then WHAM! They'll put you in theoretical positions that are damn near impossible to answer.
I had my oral boards back in 1996 for the Fort Lauderdale PD. This is one of the things they hit me with.
Board: Your on routine patrol and pull a woman over for an illegal stop. She rolls up her windows and locks her doors and refuses to obey your commands. What do you do?
Answer this and I'll finish it for you.

Sounds like a chance to see if stun gun probes inserted into a lock will short circuit the actuator. If that fails I'll call in the SWAT team, helicopter, K-9 units and the Fire Department with the Jaws of Life. Maybe it'd be better to just call in for backup block her car in front and back until a Tow Truck comes and we can haul her off.
Like so:

I wonder how she would react if I walked up and just pressed my 'nana & kiwi's against the window like a sea slug and his 2 sea urchin buddies......

No
I would just pull the gun out.
Wouldn't you want to run her license plate and see if the car was stolen or something, show her the badge. Of course there is also the possibility that something is wrong with the car or she was being attacked or something and is stopped and locks her door because the person who attacked her was wearing a uniform that looked like yours.
OK, to add to the situation this lady refuses to acknowledge you. No body language, no verbal communication, and does not appear to be in any distress.
You've run her plates and all came back fine. She appears to resemble the owner's description based of DMV records.
You call for back up but none is available for such a low priority call.
What do you do?
