Microsoft Songsmith Does the Classics - MSN Entertainment News
Microsoft Songsmith is a software program that writes music for you. Of course, folks won't be bound by silly ideas like what a software program is supposed to do. So they take classic songs, cut away everything but the vocal track and then "sing" the vocals to Songsmith. The software then supplies a new musical take on our favorites, everything from "White Wedding" to "Eye of the Tiger" (below) to "Wonderwall" and "Creep."

I'm sure there are songs improved by this software.

Wow, what a waste of resources to create something so unnecessary. I cant think of a single application for this or anything that could spawn from this technology.

He deserves death for what he did to Radio Head's music. Death, and no less. I demand justice.

Wow more ways for American's to lose the creativity and originality that used to set us apart from other nations. Now we can be like the karaoke loving societies and re-hash a dozen copies of the same song rendering it no longer pleasing.....Hell Hollywood is banking billions off of Re-Makes and sequels that are mind-numbingly subpar and Pop-cRap/RnB can't go 5 seconds through a song without copy-catting someone else like that miserable knob-scrobbler T-Pain and his precious over-use of auto-tune and the dozens of other r&b rappers jumping on that band wagon, as if that type of effect has been played out enough over the ages, with the talk box, vocoder and what not.....

Look at this use of a similar technique, now this is creative and revolutionary happenings, Walt was a pioneer and so were his Imagineers..... I always thought they did that by talking down a long metal pipe with holes along it and someone hitting it with another pipe until I saw it on a Walt documentary.....

Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
    eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012

This is dignified use of the talkbox/vocoder type effect....
