I can never quite work out the logic of why bicyclists and rollerbladers have to stay off the sidewalks in so many places. In Waikiki the sidewalks are wide enough to drive a hummer on yet bicycles get a fine if they ride on the sidewalks. In my head a collision between a bike and a pedestrian is much less dangerous than a bike and a car. There are so many accidents with tourists hitting bicyclers here that it would be safer for them to just use the sidewalk. All they would have to do is section off a narrow path for bicycles to ride in and put speed bumps every so often to keep people from racing along......
