    Lost my Job

I am an afterschool teacher, and today at work, I got fired. I had a Swiss army in my drawer, to open up boxes. The officials took it and did a body search. They then asked me to strip, and they noticed an "88"(as in 14/88) on my back shoulder. I was taken to another teacher with tons of tattoos. He had told the officials it could refer to anything.... But primarally heil Hitler. I was then told put my clothes back on and ,, I couldn't lie. I told them that is what it meant. They fired me, gave me my months pay, and said, " if you plan on ever working in this school district again, take that thing off, otherwise, stay off school grounds" I was handed my Swiss army and I collected my things and left. I was called a bad teacher, because I promoted hate crime.the only thing remotely bad is that I heard a white kid call a black a ******, and I pretended I couldn't hear it. I got fired also because of that as well, and now they are short one white kid. What are your opinions? What should I do? Is justice to be served, to either me or my student?

Looks like you copy and pasted this from somewhere else. I just did a google search on the phrases in your post and it came up.

What was the reason for firing you?? The tattoos? I guess you can approach court for this, but not sure. Where do you live?

i'm sure my wanting to exterminate violent criminals doesn't set right with lot of people either and i'd suck at a job where say i was entrusted to ensure the good treatment of prisoners who had commited violent crimes.

i think this guy is free to hold beliefs others may want to ostracize him for as long as they are kept completely at bay while he does his job. however, i find Lee Delroy guilty of bringing his racist beliefs to the job by ignoring a racial slur. sorry buddy you don't belong in a school.

criminals are criminals because they are too lazy not to be. they lack self respect, respect for their fellow man, and motivation. and no, it's not a viewpoint formed with no idea how tough life can be, it's one formed from rubbing shoulders with a lot of people this world would be better off not bearing the burden of. they thrive on your pity, and when you lay down to sleep they will take your money and maybe cut your throat. the criminal you pity cuz he maybe grew up with no dad in poverty getting beaten... oh wait THAT is MY story and hey i'm not a criminal. there's no excuse. people decide what type of person they want to be. no matter what their circumstances there is a point where a criminal decides to be scum. they make that decision by saying YOU, the target of their crime, do not fucking matter. so why the pity party?

you haven't seen much of the real world have you? show me a person that is willing to do any type of honest work they can get and will go to work on the verge of puking to not miss a day's pay n i will show you a poor person that doesn't need to steal to put food on the table. you sound like the type of person that will whine "poor me" to try n excuse yourself for less than seemly behavior.

thank you. a lot of people come through shit childhoods and by some miracle of inner strength are decent people despite it. it's simply a matter of giving a damn what's right n what's wrong. i honestly don't know where it came from and i'm far from an angel but somehow i was blessed with a good heart and a demanding conscience very early in my formative years. i cared to do the right thing and to not hurt people. a lot of criminals make excuses for the things they do by citing the same shit kids like me went through without turning out bad. i think it's just this little core piece of who you decide to be that makes or breaks you.

When you say the school is short now short one white kid, you sound somewhat racist. As if being short one white kid, no matter his behavior, is somehow the bad thing that happened here.

no, you went through a rough childhood, but by no means as bad as alot of people.

I grew up in Kenya, we were pretty poor, me n my brother shared a tiny room where my dad stored his tools, smaller than your average bathroom. We had a really basic, staple diet, my school clothes were all from neighbours and family friends who had grown out of them, my shoes were my brother's old ones as we could only afford to get him stuff, i never had any text books because i couldnt afford them, i used to get beaten nearly everyday uptil the age of 12 for a variety of things, especially in school, we often only had 2 meals and although my dad worked from 6 in the morning till 7 in the evening we were in poverty.
But still i consider myself pretty well off compared to some of my friends who i grew up with who turned out to be criminals because of their bad state. It's when they were well-enough off and got caught is when they seemed like they were from a decent earning home.

While this is true to some extent, I think the ethnic minorities in the US & UK are in a less-able position to be racist, if you get me.

i was just busting your balls a little. i think a child's heart is sometimes more fragile for some. what one child might shrug off could wound another deeply. why do some kids kill cats and others would never consider that a fun thing to do? i really don't know why some people get so broken inside they end up irreparably damaged but i know they do and they are dangerous. it's tragic but it would be like you have a herd of cattle, you love them all, 3 get some type of sickness that threatens to kill them all. you need to act for the greater good no matter that it breaks you heart to do the right thing. pity applied to liberally becomes a danger to those we fail to protect.
