Twenty-one innocent dead because there was no one capable of fighting back. All they could do was cower or run.
In addition, he called in false bomb threats to test response time. And on the day he carried out the attack, he chained the building's doors shut. Dude was sick. He definately came in prepared.

I'm not seeing any pissing contests here if I read your response correctly. Seems to me everyone in this thread has been respectful and thoughtful, regardless of their position. I for one appreciate that.

We now have a different view on guns but it's still fun to get on people's nerves.

On April 10th ABC's 20/20 will air a segment titled "If I only Had A Gun", this should be interesting.
Watch '20/20' Friday Nights at 10 p.m. - ABC News

I didn't know that. That shows an amazing amount of pre planning. It also shows, if a person is really determined to harm a lot of people, they can and will. No one can claim he "just snapped." The media and people in general tend to ignore those types of details because it scares the hell out of people to realize much planning some of these nuts go through, so they focus on the tool thinking of they could just get the tool away from them, bad things would not happen. I'm 100% all for keeping guns out of the hands of psychopaths, but people should be under no fantasies such psychos will not find an alternative route for their evil intentions.

i was referring to the sheep sheepdog thing.

and really, don't you think murder is often a pissing contest that got wayyyyyy out of hand? someone told me today his wife is trying to restrict his visitations so he countered with going for full custody. he actually laughed when he told me and i know he doesn't really WANT full custody. so often an argument removes all respect for the other person... i need to be so much more zen.

Can't say that's the term that comes to mind, but I suppose that's one way to look at it,

We hardly, if ever hear about the guy who just so happened to have a gun with him right then and there so he just went on a rampage shooting people, no it's almost always a planned out assault with caching of weapons before hand.....take the guns away and you'll hear about the guy who built a catapult and a Van Helsing style multi-fire cross bow from trees in his back yard, what'll we do then ban trees?

Another thing that you usually don't hear about in regards to VT:

"On Cho’s left arm were the words “Ishmael Axe”. On his package that he shipped to NBC News he used the name “A. Ishmael” (which NBC incorrectly first reported as “A. Ismael” leaving out the H). In the Koran, Ishmael was the rejected son of Ibraham (Abraham). In one story, Ishmael goes to the mosque and finds statues of what he perceives to be false idols. To test his theory he brings them food and then comes back hours later. Since they haven’t eaten the food he considers his belief confirmed, takes an axe and destroys them. So, per the Koran, “Ishmael’s Axe” is the destroyer of false idols.

Take an impartial and objective look at the video tape – or any photos you can find from it – that Cho made. In it he essentially states his beliefs, which attack Christianity, and portrays himself as a warrior, victim and sacrifice. This is common to martyr videos created by suicide bombers.

There is also evidence in the video tape that Cho cut his hair prior to his attacks. Shaving the head (and other body parts) are preparatory measures taken by suicide bombers / martyrs.

Finally I come to Cho’s early morning routine – being up and out of his dorm room by five a.m. While there is absolutely no evidence of what he was doing that early in the morning, this behavior was reported to have occurred for three to five weeks before the attack. At 5:10 a.m. each day, in the Squires Student Center, about a five to ten minutes walk from Cho’s dorm building, the Muslim Student Association held morning prayers. Cho had sufficient time to be attending them given the time he was leaving his dorm room."
