I don't give a fuck about whiny "hollywood keeps rehashing old shit" people and truly fuck Trekkies this movie looks like a blast

Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
    eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012

They really need a good Trek flick to jump start interest. Just like it was done for the Bond movies.

The cast just looks a bit too young for my liking. Seemingly almost like teen-trek. But I guess it's to get at the younger audience. The Bond movies didn't go down that path. They used seasoned actors with success... oh well..

Well, they're trying to showcase a very young crew and very new ship. Unfortunately, looking the part (very young) sometimes means you have to actually be very young.

I can't wait to see it, but that's because I'm also a huge Star Trek fan (kind of a Trekker - I don't do the dress up and conventions thing yet...)!

    Still rather see Wolverine.

Yea. I know It is supposed to be a prequel (how Spock and Kirk met..etc). So long it is about that, it's fine. But if they move on to piloting the ship ...

My buddy told me about the leaked Wolverine thing. Its a rough cut though, no CGI or anything and supposedly not really editted together that great. My buddy though said its pretty cool to watch anyway.

The original story and timeline will be altered because a Romulan reset time and everything Kirk went through with Spock and everyone else has been wiped out, most things fall right back into place but some things get scrambled. I think part of the trailer shows the Enterprise being built and then shows Kirk and Spock on the Bridge......

HEY GUYS THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A LOT WORSE......
They could have made a "Wesley Crusher: Starfleet Academy Years" movie

Same response I heard. Even without final touches, it was still pretty good.

Id prolly see it in the theater even if I did watch it just cuz its, well, Wolvie!

Thats the part that didnt sit well with me as in the original series the crew was much older. Having a bunch of overachieving yung-uns running the flag ship didnt seem convincing. One or two would be fine but the whole cast is in the same age group. Hence my impression of it being kinda a teen-trek. I guess they need to come up with a strong story to explain that (that romulin stuff.. I'm avoiding any spoilers... I want to be surprised )

The plot device has to have Kirk take command early on, his life and everything we have seen him do in other episodes and movies depends on it.....get it? I'm not a Trekkie by any means, my father was. I remember the time I bought him a 4'X6' Blue Print of NCC-1701 at a book fair for his birthday and he never shut-up about it, he actually lacquered it to a board and hung it in the garage. I have seen just about every episode at least 5 times just from living with him, I saw all of the Original Doctor Who's as well........
