Not sure of a specific place but try to stay in the city. It's a bit of a drive to Wrigley but it's awesome! The traffic makes NYC look tame.

My bro in law lives in the city and I stay with him when I go out there. I couldn't believe how nice it was.

Nope never been there other then through the airport or as a drive through to another destination.

Wrigleyville, nowhere fun???? Who are you kidding!!!! I grew up in Chitown. There's a lot of things to do right outside Wrigley, if you like to drink!

However I am looking over a few day period. And hotels are very limited around Wrigley.

I lived in the roof top buildings on Sheffield behind wrigley...man oh man do I miss that place

You're right though, there aren't any hotels there, b/c Wrigley Field is in a neighborhood...there aren't many business other than bars, restaurants and mom/pop shops. You can find lodging on the south end of Lincoln Park though, which is a 5min ride on the redline.

Maybe you have to be a cubs fan to appreciate Wrigley. I've driven there twice & don't plan to again.

Parking is a nightmare & peeing in a trough isn't my thing.

Yes, parking is a nightmare unless you know the "non public" streets...if you can get your hands a temporary day pass park here:

I have no idea why, but there was ALWAYS spots on the street there...several spots before, during, and just after games. I never understood why...just go north up Seminary and you can park on the right with a temp day pass...or you can park on the left in the lots for 25USD

Ian, Chicago is such an amazing city. Why not arrange your stay around the other things to do (downtown) and just travel to the game?

The north side is the white side.I don't like Chicago. It's full of ignorant blacks and arrogant whites who think they're the sh!t because they moved to the big city from Nebraska. It's so segregated. I have friends at Northwestern so I love going up to Evanston and hanging out with them. They have a great downtown in Evanston. Lots of sh!t to do and despite it being so rich, the food and bars are reasonably priced. What ever you do, don't go to Millenium Park (overrated, not much there except a giant shiny bean that everyone gravitates towards and touches reminecent of the monkeys touching the black box in A Space Odyssey. Don't go to Billy Goat Tavern either. Food isn't that great. They're tourist traps. Mag Mile is alright but it's no 5th ave. or Rodeo Drive. Basically just has anything you would find in any typical indoor mall plus a bunch of walgreens and starbucks on every corner.

The Affinti Chicago has some pretty decent deals for a hotel.

I am just a huge ball fan. Loved Fenway, Loved Yankee Stadium.... Wrigley is next. It is just the aura of being in the classic park.

While we on the subject of Chi town, who the fuck is Chicago Larry? He said he is a tv star and I can't find his ass on the net about his show. I assumed he's a youtube star but I can't find him.

A man dressed in red came to work yesturday dressed in red and started to take pictures with his camcorder. He talked about magazines. And I was totaly hearing him loud and clear while I was helping out the customers. Then he introduced himself as Chicago Larry and asked me to do a small bit.

Iain, I'm kind of partial to the Fairmont, but it's pricey! In Lincoln Park you will find the Belden-Stratford which is also very nice and they have deals going on sometimes.

Ian, who are you going with and what are some things you definitely want to do?

I liked Navy Pier a lot. Last time I went they had a magician/comedian and a live band playing. Weather will be perfect for it.

I like Millennium Park. Cloud Gate ("The Bean") is pretty cool I think, but yeah, touristsy. If you are going with kids, they will like it, and the environment there is really nice. Pretty laid back with plenty of benches if you want to sit and people/scenary watch. They sometimes will have live music playing at the Pavillion nearby.

As far as places to eat, every time I am in town, I go to Giordano's and get the Chicago deep-dish. If you haven't had it, make sure to try it out. They are everywhere.

Do you plan to go out at night? Bars or clubs?

Will just be the Wife and I.... Kids are staying home.

So we are looking for fun, and good food.

Gino's Deep dish is the shit! Whatever you do, you must have Chicago pizza before you leave.

Oh, and the Navy pier is a real cool area as well. Last time out we did the tourist thing and went on an architectural boat tour of the city. Nice and laid back and they serve a variety of beers on the boat.

Yeah I read Gino's is the shit for Deep Dish.

Beer, food, and entertainment are my priorities. Outside of the Cubs game.

We try to hit this place at least once a year. The best steaks!!! And they use to allow cigar smoking in the piano bar.

Navy Pier is a tourist spot...but you should prolly check it once if you aren't from the area. Its a little pricey for food/activities/parking. If there is a big event there (like the taste of chicago or a raging concert) I'd avoid it like the plague.

If you have family to take out (kids) I'd hit it up...if you are looking for night life stuff, then not so much. If you like clubby posh spots, stay downtown. If you like sports bars or lounges go northside to wrigelyville or lincoln park. If you like alternative and up in-coming stuff go bucktown/westside.

never went to southend...don't recommend it unless you have a local with you

BTW, Flashlights its pretty obvious you never spent much time in the city and ur just spewing typical hipster college ideals. The WHOLE westside of the city is mixed income and very diverse...and I lived on the northside and saw plenty of non whites who were working professionals.

Kentdog is right, giordano's is w/o a doubt the best deep dish pizza place...get a small pizza for two. trust me, I could never eat more than 3 slices. I concur with most of what Kent Dog said
