    Near Death Experience

I was involved in a bad motorcycle accident on 5/3. I never lost consciousness and remember having about a second before hitting the pavement and everything flash before me.

I was pretty sure I was going to die but it wasn't like my life flashed in front of me. More so all my family members and how they would feel. Especially my wife. There was no fear, just resignation.

    Anyone else have stories?

o man that sucks! how fast were you going? what happened?
i was being a dumbass racing on the freeway going 115mph and a truck switched lanes without a signal light or looking and i had to swerve into the other lane and i got sideways going 115mph but i ended up correcting myself... as soon as i was starting to change lanes i slammed my foot on the clutch and just held on to the steering wheel so i could correct myself if anything.. but after i drove almost a mile or so just zoned out holding in the clutch just cruising tripping out... def scarry when your getting sideways going 115mph and the only thing to the right is a off ramp that goes down and on the right was just cars

I was being a dumbass too. I was riding a friends bike (Yamaha VMax) for the first time. I was getting onto the highway and accelerated. I got up to 75mph in a blink and didn't see how sharp the merge bend was. At that point it was too late. I jumped on the breaks and got down to around 55mph before the bike started to shake and the bars veered right and throw me down into the pavement to the left.

My friend was riding behind me and said I flip 25 times. I have a ton of roadrash, broken arm, shattered right knee, two large 5'' across open wounds on my leg that can't be closed as well as a few other things.

My head only hit the ground once and it was light otherwise I wouldn't be typing this.

    I got lucky!

In September I was involved in a car crash. I was the front seat passenger in my friends car. At a T junction he ran a red light, a taxi hit my door at between 40-45mph and my forehead went through the passenger window. I spend the next 12 hours in hospital have glass pulled from my head(it was pretty fucking deep). My friend JUST passed the breath test and we havent been the same since. I spent the next 3 months in pain everyday, and had surgery in February to remove the glass that was too deep to get at the time, to remove some dirt (that made part of my forehead black for 5 months) and to try and reduce the scaring.

There were numerous things that I was not able to do for months because my head was very tender and cant take any sort of impact, mainly I couldnt play rugby and had to be very careful when im dancing on a night out.

Its getting better now and I dont have to worry about banging it anymore. Though I need more surgery in the summer, which isnt that bad just a bit of a pain in the ass because I have to fly back over to England from N.Ireland to get it.

I dont worry about it too much though, every doctor ive seen since told me that I should be dead.....so I guess thats a pretty big plus.lol

That really blows. The worst part is coming back after you heal. Starting over again sucks.

    Hey LP-
Glad to hear that you are ok!

let's see...I've almost ended myself 5 separate times on the bike I used to have. Once I actually told myself: "I'm going to die right now"

And then there was that night in August '06 when as a bouncer, some POS sliced me from the back of my neck to the front with a box cutter...nearly died from that.

    Thanks.

Yea, that's the worst part. Just when I was feeling close to 100% again.

The wounds on my knee pretty much leave me immobile. My knee was pretty much destroyed as well but they can't do anything until the wounds heal.

Wow... there goes my idea of getting a bike out the window. I'm gna have to get a re-inforced bat mobile now.

I'm glad you're all okay though, really. And LP that's sad, yet insipiring. Your brother sounds like one heck of a guy.

I dunno what to call this one but here it goes...

I was a senior in high school and my brother was a freshman. School was over and we were waiting for our bus to pick us up with other students. We waited like an hour before we both say "screw that noise. we taking the city bus". We both get home an hour later and we find our bus on the news with the front half hanging off the side of the free way and a car on the other side on fire.

My friend had just finished a very expensive cycle and was the biggest he'd ever been when he got T-boned on a bike by a bus. His lower leg was so shattered it took 8 surgeries to fix it, his shin bone had poked right thru the back of his calf muscle. He had a crater in his muscle once it healed and he shrank a bit lying in bed for 2 month's. But he started doing upper body the minute he could roll around in his wheel chair and maintained while his leg healed.

ive been in a truck pulling an rv.. wind picked up and started swerving the rv back and forth. kept getting stronger until it flipped around, rolled down the highway, and spun the truck in a 360 in the middle of the road. very scary!! someone didn't hook that shit up like they were supposed to apparently! :/

I was cruising towards a Rail Road Xing/Intersection when I saw a Semi Jack knife and it's trailer was coming right at me, then the back wheels caught on the rail road ties and tipped over and it came faster at me cause it was sliding on the smooth tracks. I floored my truck and threw my truck into a power slide on the soft shoulder then my tires caught the blacktop and shot me diagonally out of the path of the on coming danger, I then hit my brakes before I ended up getting T-ed by the crossing traffic coming the opposite way of the Semi. I put my truck in park and hopped out to see how the driver was and 2 old cowboys who had been behind me came galloping up behind me yelling
"Hoooooo-Buuuuooooyyyyy, we thawt you wus gon' be crushed, that wus some faaant-z driving son, you a stunt driver or sum'n boy? You handled that lil' truck like a fine cuttin' horse I do saaay so...."

I just said " No sir, I was just lucky to have a dad who let me drive around a beater on back country roads, doing silly donuts and sliding sideways so I learned how to handle a car in more ways than back, forth, left and right."

And now about 2 weeks back I had to use a similar maneuver. I was following behind a big SUV down a main road with dozens of intersecting small roads in a subdivision. The SUV past in front of a Jetta and right as I started in front the Jetta started going and would have hit me if I hadn't floored my gas and spun my car 45 degrees, even with my tires squawking on the pavement the Jetta didn't even slow down. It did come to a sudden stop when I think they looked right and saw my car jerking back into my lane, like "Oh shit I almost hit that car...." Fucking teenage boy on his cellphone....
