Hello , I was wondering if there is anything for my girlfriend that will enhance her efforts in the gym. Her energy levels could be better and she was wondering if there is a type of hormone therapy that might be good for her . She is 43 and in good shape but wants to tighten up . Any advice would be appreciated.

Please evaluate diet, training & recovery before you start looking at steroids. "Need a boost" is your body saying whatever you are doing right now ain't workin. That means the whole scope of your lifestyle - are you eating well? Are you sleeping well? Are you getting enough sleep? Are you stressed all the time? Are you getting into the gym?

Throwing in steroids is a much bigger step w/ greater consequences and probably nothing like what you thought you were going to get out of it if 1) you don't understand steroid use (meaning SHE, not you telling her stuff you read online - HER body, HER results, HER sides...) and 2) your lifestyle (all dimensions as listed above) have not already been reviewed and optimized.

Please provide more detail.

I suggest a full thyroid panel including FREET3 and TPO TPA Antibodies.

You might be on to something AY . She is on synthroid because her thyroid was removed .

THIS is key type information when you are asking for self-medication recommendations online....

Start w/ your doc if there needs to be some medication adjustment. But still review diet, etc. So many people say they are "eating clean' or whatever but are actually undereating or leaving out nutritients like "I eat low cal / low carb /low fat" - when in fact they are just nutritionally starved.

So she has no thyroid and/or active thyroid....and she is only on synthroid?...I can see why she has no energy....

Look for a doctor who specializes in women's thyroid/hrt....a gp isn't gonna cut it....

She needs a full hormone evaluation and prescribing plan by someone that is versed well in her situation...

Normally armour thyroid along with a lesser dose of t4 and t3 will do the trick...but its nothing to guess at...I would HIGHLY advise using BRAND meds and not generics....this makes a huge difference in women with her problem....

Synthroid is synthetic T4. Many doctors assume her body will convert that to T3. T3 is the active thyroid hormone. Many women dont convert. By removing her thyroid they made her hypothyroid. Dollars to donuts she doesnt have enough T3 to ever feel right.

THIS.
OP: Anymore I recommend naturopaths to get someone with a clue about thyroid. Skip the endos they are only good at diabetese and if you can find a thyroid "specialist" all the better.

Is she eating right? Natural foods like fresh vegs and fruits provide great energy.
Sleep is also very important. I find that if i lose evdn halfhour sleep my enrfy levels go down.
