Question for those who have used a stericup system

So as I took it out of the pack, I got to looking. I have the complete system with the top, filter and the reciever bottle. It looks like there is a solid piece of paper on top of what would be the filter. Or maybe this is the filter? Just wondering if I should remove that? Im not going to stick something down there and risk puncturing it and runing that stericup. Anyone experiece this?

The thing in the middle is the filter. Just pour your oil in put the lid on and hook up your handpump at no more than 5psi.
    U will b set

Yeah I just figured it out! Never used one of these before and I was looking for something that looked like a filter I was used to. Thanks for the quick reply. I just didn't want to get all the oil in there and then realize I needed to remove something.

Another question. Should I be losing pressure in the system? Every 5-10 minutes I lose about 2psi. I'm not really sure if it's cause my handpump sucks or if that's just how it is. I hope its not the handpump. That bastard was like 50 bucks.

Shit it took me over 3 hours to filter 250ml out of a 500ml stericup. Then I might have pumped it up to 6 on accident and I noticed oil leaking out of the top cup and running down the outside. I capped that one and put the rest of it in another 250ml stericup and now it's been 2 hours and I'm at 150ml. I have to pump it a couple times every 5 minutes or so. Not sure if that's kosher or not. But it's making me want to invest in an automatic pump.

Lol I use an Adjustable electric tire pump, I set the PSI to 5 plug it in and go do what I need to do, every time it drops past 5 it re pressurizes to 5 automatically.

    Wo0t!

You will get faster the more you do it. I went through like 3 cups the first time I made a few hundred ml. It is a bitch to keep having to pump it, but just think how long that 250ml will last ya

Yeah this filtered Grapeseed oil should last my rats a while

Good call on the tire pump! I'll have to see if I can find one of those. Did you have to rig it up to fit the tubing since it probably comes with a schrader valve?

Yes you will have to make some minimal adjustments, But in the end works nicely

    Update.

I'm starting to wonder if it's not the heat from the oil that is causing the failures.
I throw my GSO in the oven at 200 degrees for about 10min while the ba/bb dissolves the media. Yesterday I tried again and yet again the first stericup started leaking. Then I transfered to another one and it was fine. I think I'll let it cool off a little more this time before dumping it in.

The loose circular piece your talking about is called a Pre filter.
Its intended to stop any large particles.
If your oil is super hot it can melt the filter so let it cool a bit before filtering.
