Read that line again. I didn't say all women are not gold diggers and that goes for men too. I've seen plenty of men that just want the easily lifestyle and live off a women.

Yet if that's what you want, the type of women that wants money, then that's your choice and you won't have a very good relationship.

This seems pretty accurate to me. The complicating part is that women will rarely find guys that are close to identical in all other respects. And the guy making 200k has to be pretty careful. It can make for a crappy deal if she can't see anything past the money.

The only part I disagree with personally is the part about the best looking woman getting the rich dude. Looks on a woman don't mean that much to me given that she is at least slightly above average. If I made that kind of money and had a wide range of choices, I'd pick other characteristics (is she a complete freak in bed? check....okay, I might as well marry her.) But in this instance I am the exception and very different than the norm. Just as a woman that says money doesn't matter very much is also an exception.

I don't think you can go farther than this either. Personality is just too big of a factor for many women. I do have to agree to some extent though. I can't see many women giving up a great monetary situation just to be with a man that has a better personality (given that the rich man's personality is at least average).

Edit: Crap. Now that I read that again, I have to agree with largepkg's post in full as well.

The same goes for men. If a girl has a average personality and makes 200k I have no problem dating her over that makes 30k and has an exceptional personality. Does this make me shallow? Maybe, but at the same time financial security is a big part of relationships ( why the succeed or fail ).

I make an above middle income salary. I've just recently got engaged but beside that fact I've never once cared about what my lady makes/made. That is my responsibility. If I had things my way she would be provided for and would raise my children full time. This might sound old fashion but that's how I feel.

Men with any kind of sack would not care what their lady earned. They would step up and provide for their family.

First of all you're taking things out of perspective. My response was directed to Jordan's post. He stated he would go for the money which is what I detest.

Again, if you read closer and not let your emotions get involved then you would see I'm not against women working and/or making a nice living. If that's what my fiances wants to do then I'm all for it. I do believe when it comes to children there is no one better to raise them then their parents. This is where my comments are directed.

i keep seeing the comparison of guy a to guy B. Guy A has all the things that a girl want without the money. And Guy B has everything also, but with the money. Who would a girl choose? Obviously guy B. But how is that a comparison thats realistic?

If someone gives you a 200k house, and another offers for free a 200k house but with a 100 inch TV, which would you choose. Of course the one with the TV..........but realistically, who the hell is gonna give you a free 200k house?

So realistically, how many times is a girl gonna run into two guys with identical characteristics, but one with money and the other without? Probably Zero...............

I don't think it is fair to lump his comment in with your ex-husband. Some couples, my wife and I included, decided that during the early years (pre-school) that we wanted her in the home. She was willing to make the sacrifice by putting her career on hold and we were willing to sacrifice the extra income.

If you are saying that this should not be forced on women, I 100% agree. If you are saying that deciding to have the mom in the home during the early years is wrong, I would strongly object. Some men DO make it an ego thing. I want the little lady at home with dinner on the table. It is a power trip. Some however are just trying to raise their kids they best they can.

My youngest is 7 now. Recently we decided that it would be best for our family if my wife went back to work. She works here at the firm and earns enough money to pay for our kids to go to private schools.

In short, she worked when when we had no kids, worked at home being a mom when it was best and now works outside the home when it is best. Because of her earnings, my kids get a HUGE benefit in their education. At the end of her "career" she has one hell of a resume.
