For some men and women this may be the case but for many it's a just personal thing........nobody wants to talk about their previous sex life with their SO and if they do, then they are sick.

You need to think like a women here for moment..............asking a girl this question is going to imply that you think that she did sleep around. So a harmless question, turns into accusation in her mind. Think from a womens perspective and maybe you can see where I'm coming from.

I would never ask and it would be up to them to initiate the conversation, but that's just me.

Everyone sleeps around, the question is to what extent did you sleep around. If you are so ashamed that a question turns into an accusation, perhaps you shouldn't get angry at the person asking the question but instead ask yourself why you do things you are ashamed of. The fact of the matter is it is relevant to judging someone's character, their self-respect, whether they're likely to be promiscous in the future, and whether you even want to be with them. I wouldn't want to sleep with someone who fucks everything that comes along.

Bottom line, if I am going to be in a comitted relationship, I want to know a ball park figure. I also want to know if she has ever cheated before. I also want to know what contacts she has with her ex's. People talk about "setting yourself up for failure" by asking that question, I think you are setting yourself up for failure if you don't. You are going to find yourself broken hearted because your girl screwed around on you, when you wouldn't have gotten attached in the first place if you had known she had slept with 15 people at the age of 20, she cheated on every boyfriend she ever had, and she still has a thing for her ex.

woh woh woh, I don't think you want to accuse me here but it sounds like you are and I don't like it. I don't sleep around! When I was single, hell I WISH I DID sleep around a bit. Might have helped with the sexual frustration Most people have had a few flings here and there but being with the same guy (marriage) for over 1/3 of my life put me out of the "norm". It also made me sexually shy after my divorce for a few years. Anyway, I don't owe an explanation for why I said what I said, but yeah, if a guy came out and asked me how many people I've been with without prior discussion of both our past experiences then yes, I would be offended. I would think he would too if I asked him. There is a way to approach it but asking out of the blue for curiousity sake is not the way to do it.

I am 23, is that young? I have been more successful with relationships than almost anyone else I know.

I guess the difference is that I want to actually know the person I am involved with, you just want to settle with someone and never have to talk about your past.
