I have tried to communicate to my girlfriend the long term risks inherent in using hormonal birth control pills, but she is not as open minded in this area as she is in others. In fact, she said the only reason she started it was because they make her periods milder. That surprised me as she is very anti-drug/anti-supplement in general.

On a side note, what do think about the copper T IUD's? The only bad things I have heard are that they can make a woman's period worse. At least it is highly effective and not hormonal.

Like you, I don't want to have children. I also wouldn't trust a condom+spermicide alone. It only takes one mistake and condoms themselves can be unrealiable unless both partners take time to consider the risks and act very carefully. I think two methods are needed and one of the better be 99%+ effective.
I've hear horror stories about the copper IUD. It's painful for many and uncomfortable during intercourse. the thought of having a copper stick up there gives me the willies

It's very effective BC wise but I think if you want a permenant solution a vasectomy or that essure surgery is the best option.

Oh and don't listen to Foreman, he thinks that every women out there is trying to trap a man.

There are only a couple of things that keep me from getting a vasectomy. One is the obvious risk of surgery. I'd be kicking myself forever if something went wrong. The other is that I am young and I can't completely predict how I will feel in my mid 40's or early 50's.

That is what is so exciting about options like essure. Something less invasive is what I am waiting on.

Although by no means do I feel women are out to trap me, I do think since I definitely don't want kids that my risk tolerance is much lower than for instance my g/f (who does want kids). It is not really a gender issue for me but more a matter of looking after myself when I know I have differing views. She is fine with just using b/c and didn't care as much about the small risk because she definitely wants kids some day and has made it very clear she would love to have them with me. Where she sees joy, I could more easily see catastrophe. So I ended up being the one to make sure we always use both b/c pills (her choice) combined with my preferred brand of condoms.

Tubes tied, vasectomy, rings, pills, condoms. Damn it, you cant call it sex after all that. You can even call these people human. God damn robots!

I am joking but sex feels better without condoms though.

yes it does. it feels better when neither of you have to feel afraid either. pregnancy is a big one. vasectomies rock but if your guy turns white at the thought of it you need to be the one to step up. if you really are sure you don't want kids sterilization is the best way.

true!

Life is a process of becoming, a combination of states we have to go through. Where people fail is that they wish to elect a state and remain in it. This is a kind of death.
