WASHINGTON (Reuters) -- Barr Pharmaceuticals Inc. won U.S. approval to sell its Plan B "morning-after" contraceptive without a prescription to women 18 and older, the company said Thursday.
Younger girls still need a prescription for Plan B, Barr Pharmaceuticals (Charts) said in a statement. The Plan B pills may prevent pregnancy when taken within 72 hours of sexual intercourse.

I have mixed feelings over this.

    a. I thinks it GREAT that women have this option. Think condom breakage. Man, that's the worst.

    b. I think younger women abuse it. They go out, meet someone, have unprotected sex, then goes to the clinic the next day to get one of these pills.

It's promoting lack of responsibility. Women should have a choice but like anything that's good, it gets abused. I thought having a script for it was acceptable. At least there was some sort of accountablilty for their actions by having to see an ob/gyn for this pill. Now it will be a free for all and more unprotected sex.

Everytime I go to the gyno while I'm in the waiting room, someone (young girls) come in asking for this pill. I can't believe that people are that irresponsible.

So IMO, it's a good thing but the abuse is not for the good.

I wonder if women will start banging men a lot more without worrying as much as before since the pill is approved now so they can just take it to be safe.

I'd say about 5% of women practice safe sex.
