Most people think that you become Arnold the moment you touch steroids but these players now know that certain steroids affect your differently.....not that I really know much about it, I would also have though the same about Ortiz.
I like Ortiz as player, hopefully he can bounce back and at least be close to the numbers he put up in past years.
Here's his quote.
”I think you clean up the game by the testing. I know that if I test positive by using any kind of substance, I know that I’m going to disrespect my family, the game, the fans and everybody, and I don’t want to be facing that situation. “So what would I do? I won’t use it, and I’m pretty sure that everybody is on the same page,”
LOL....I like how Nomar is now stating that some guys chose not to take the test and said to put them down as "positive" so that it would elevate the numbers and force baseball to institute a testing policy....Riiiiiiight. Sounds like a guy who is trying to cover his tracks to me.
He only had 53 home runs in 6-seasons? WOW, I would have never guessed that stat. I guess he just sort of popped on the scene in 2003 as this big home run hitter who would come in and save the day with walk-off home runs and I never realized what he was doing prior to that, so i just accepted that he was quietly hitting a ton of home runs and no one really talked about it. Guess I was wrong.

In fairness, he didn't play a lot of games with minny. But was hitting a tater on average ever 26 At bats.
Now in his career with boston, he has been hitting a tater every 14 at bats.
