I guess it depends on how you look at cost. what more should the guy do in your opinion to pay his debt to society?

I honestly think he should be behind bars for at least 2-4 more years. Dog or not, this guy took the lives of many for his own pleasure and profit. Now, one could make the argument that someone selling cattle for food did the same thing, but this went far beyond that. Honestly, justice would be done if he were put in a cage with an angry rottweiler for 3 5 minute rounds. At the end, they both walk out...maybe. Harsh maybe, but I watched that Dogtown show with his dogs. I cannot imagine what those poor animals went through, and I can say without a shadow of a doubt that at the end of each one of those shows Mike Vick is lucky he wasn't in the same room as me, because he would have never made it out in a single piece.

If sense were common, everyone would have it.

sounds about right. but as far as our justice system is concerned he served his time. 2 years is a punishment to me for cruelty to animals. i don't think vick is a high risk for reoffending

I agree on him not offending again, but 2 years is not enough for what he did, IMO. However, just because that is my opinion doesn't mean the man doesn't deserve the right to make a living.

If sense were common, everyone would have it.

You are ignorant. His issue is not about gambling or smoking weed. Its about his beyond cruel treatment to animals. Fighting dogs is cruel behavior to allow or encourage. But drowning, shocking, and hanging dogs to their deaths is behavior of a disturbed human. There is no justification for getting off on this type of behavior. This type of conduct is not something you just turn off.

I have a good friend who knows a pit bull breeder in southern IL that sold a lot of dogs to Vick over MANY years. It wasnt until after the bust that people figured out what this man was doing. FYI this man was arrested for selling him the dogs, and I wouldn't be shocked if he is still sitting behind bars today while Vick walks free and goes on making millions.

Yes I do have an 8 year old male pit. He is a very well behaved dog and I treat him like a member of the family. Its hard being a responsible pit bull owner when you have so many people against you based mostly on the breed. People like Vick do not help this cause. I think they had a show on tv on his dogs showing how they are good, and some have gone on to do great things. I hope that is what people remember however I doubt that will be the case.

Seeing any animal treated this way makes my blood boil. If it were up to me he would never see the light of day.

Others on this board have agreed with me that Vick is not a high risk repeat offender. you need to calm your ass down before you go running your mouth. You may not think that he has been punished enough, and I don't have a problem with that opinion, but the guy served 2 years, is bankrupt, and out of jail. It's time for him to move on and be a productive member of society instead of a drain on the justice system. He is an athlete that makes money being an athlete.

And i'm sure that out of protest that professional athletes don't have to live up to your standards of high moral character you don't watch any professional sporting event.

your criteria has nothing to do with being a professional athlete. many professional athletes don't live "decent lives" but if you can compete on an elite level then you have a multi-million dollar job. and thats how it should be.

I say you are ignorant for thinking he is not a high risk for repeat offender. This is not a new found interest that got him in trouble. He has done this for a long time. Secondly its not just fighting dogs, its his psycho behaviors that will likely be repeated. Like him handing out his disease to people without as much as a warning. Or testing positive for weed while waiting for his sentence. All things that show the type of guy he is. I do not feel bad he spent time in jail, has no money, filed bankruptcy, or if the NFL told him to take a hike. He is a total shit bag that will not change.

There are plenty of talented kids being drafted that are not convicted felons, and deserve to have that elite status as a pro athlete. The NFL would not be at a great loss without him. Nobody missed his ass while he was gone, and his old team didn't even want him back not only due to the figthing issue, but many other things that he did that brought negative attention to the team.

Just because he went to jail and can throw a ball does not mean he should get another chance. If any of us did that we would have to accept we would be fucked out of our careers most likely, and would have to take a shit job to support life.

Actually I don't watch a lot of sporting events, and I don't think what these athletes make is justified. They are entertainers....CEO's of huge companies that actually do productive things for society make just a small fraction of what some of the top NFL guys make. Baseball is even worse. Doctors that save lives daily make what a bench warmer for the bears make and that person doesn't even play. That seems logical to me.

When I say lead a decent life I am not saying they need to go to church, help old ladies cross the road, or not cheat on their spouse. I am saying they should not be fuckin criminals. Just because they are able to compete with the best doesn't mean they are owed anything. Nobody owes Vick a job because he can throw a football. However the NFL organization should hold athletes to some standards to ensure quality people are getting what they deserve and criminals are not rewarded.

The NFL is not the police.I personally think that cheating on a spouse is much worse than dog fighting, but that is just me. the reason why nfl quarterbacks make millions of dollars and surgeons only make hundreds of thousands is because there are more guys capable of doing the job of a surgeon than playing NFL quarterback. this is simple economics. arguments like yours are the same ones communists use, and we've seen how effective that system is. By the way, the highest paid CEO last year made 700 million in total compensation. Just food for thought

If the NFL does not employ criminals that does not make them the police. If that is the case the majority of legit companies out there have the title of Police. It has to do with business ethic and reputation. McDonalds does not hire violent criminals because they do not want to put their customers at risk, or taint their reputation as a company. My reference to income is a doctor compared to a Bears bench warmer that never plays. I can see the best getting paid more then the worst, but seriously the worst in the NFL get paid more then most doctors. How is my view of the NFL not allowing felons play considered a communist view? Most companies will entertain hiring felons or people convicted of violent crimes. Most people in jail are not on their first rodeo either.

Do I think he will fund another fighting ring? First off he did far more then fund a fighting ring. You keep bringing up the dog fighting or funding aspect of this as if that is the most disturbing part of his crime. THIS MAN TORTURED DOGS TO THEIR DEATH....do you hear that? That is sick behavior and by no means should be be rewarded. I do think he will continue with his ghetto ways. He has bad company, shit for parents, and obviously shown many times he has poor judgement. Giving this man a job with a large income is doing nothing more then helping to fund his ghetto fab lifestyle.

You and others who want to hold his nuts based on his ability to play ball need to wake up. His ability to play does not make up for what he has done, and by no means does it mean he should be given his job back.
