Definitely a good start to his career. Let's not forget they played the Texans though...the NFL's answer to the Kansas City Royals.

I am going to say Mino is the Jets fan, and Lee is the Giants fan.

No way....these Yankee and Met fan feud is real.
Same with the Jets and Giants.
Don't even mention the Islander and Rangers in the same sentence.

After the way they snatched defeat from the jaws of victory last night, that's entirely understandable.

I hear what you're saying, but the Royals aren't that bad...and have actually won a world championship.

Why is that? Don't you live out West?

To be honest I kind of like the tough talk Rex puts out.
Mangini wore out his welcome here in NY....he had the whole team on mute, even the owner.

Could Sanchez be the real thing?

Quote:
Rex Ryan's Jets back up all the talk, beat Tom Brady and Patriots, 16-9

BY Rich Cimini
DAILY NEWS SPORTS WRITER

Updated Sunday, September 20th 2009, 7:36 PM

Maybe the Jets were talked out. The postgame locker room was relatively low-key, with no "I told-you-so" quotes. Yes, they beat down the Patriots Sunday with a defense that pulled a Bridget Moynahan, blindsiding Tom Brady, but nobody proclaimed, "The wicked witch is dead."

"The big deal is, we're a football team that should be respected," Rex Ryan said after the 16-9 victory at the raucous Meadowlands. "Sometimes we talk a little bit, but only because we have confidence in our football team."
Talk a little? They talked a lot, namely Ryan, Kerry Rhodes and Kris Jenkins, providing a month of bulletin-board fodder for Bill Belichick. It was set up for another classic Jets letdown, but a strange thing happened on the way to another gut-wrenching home loss to the Patriots:

They actually played a better game than they talked. Instead of kissing Belichick's Super Bowl rings, they punched his team in the kisser.
"What an amazing win," said Mark Sanchez, who improved to 2-0 as an NFL quarterback.

The Jets talked with their blitz, holding Brady (23-for-47, 216 yards) under 50% for only the second time in his last 22 games. Employing creative pressure schemes, they didn't record any sacks (amazing) but they confused Brady and hit him seven times, fulfilling Rhodes' guarantee. They held the Patriots to three field goals, the first time since 1993 the Jets have gone back-to-back games without allowing a defensive touchdown.
They talked with their rookie quarterback, who overcame a shaky start to throw for 148 yards and a touchdown in the second half - a 9-yard "touch" pass to Dustin Keller in the back of the end zone to make it 10-9 in the third quarter.

They talked with their crowd, which rattled the Patriots (1-1) into four delay-of-game penalties. Maybe Ryan's phone message last week to season-ticket holders lit the fire. Several players said it was the loudest they'd ever heard the stadium.
"I actually felt the ground vibrating," said defensive end Shaun Ellis, who had experienced eight consecutive home losses to the Patriots - the longest home losing streak to any single opponent in Jets history.
Now it's done.

"Now we don't have to hear about that streak anymore," guard Brandon Moore said.
The years of frustration got to the Jets, who, emboldened by Ryan's outspoken personality, talked trash all week. Actually, Ryan started it three months ago, saying he didn't come here to kiss Belichick's rings. Rhodes piled on, saying they wanted to embarrass the Patriots.
In the team meeting Saturday night, Ryan told the players to back up the tough talk. And they did.

"We obviously don't want to do that every week," safety Jim Leonhard said, referring to Rhodes' inflammatory comments in the Daily News, "but we've got his back. That's the way this is going to work around here. If someone says something you have to back it up as an entire unit."
Tackle Damien Woody said the Jets didn't need any extra motivation to beat the Patriots.

"We knew," he said. "I mean, I can't be any more serious. We knew. We knew what we were capable of doing."
Offensively, it didn't look too promising at the start. Undermined by an early sack, penalties and a fumble by Leon Washington, the Jets managed only 57 total yards in the first half. Sanchez (14-for-22, 163 yards) looked like he was on his way to becoming the next rookie quarterback to be swallowed up by a Belichick-coached defense.

"We couldn't find a first down to save ourselves," Moore said.
At halftime, coordinator Brian Schottenheimer made an adjustment, opening up the game plan. After a 45-yard kickoff return by Washington, Sanchez came out throwing and hit Jerricho Cotchery on a slant that went for 45 yards. Moments later, he threw a touchdown to Keller, who got open with a double move. Sanchez dropped it over the outstretched arms of safety Brandon McGowan.

"I don't care if he had a 40-inch vertical jump, he wasn't going to get that pass," Keller said of McGowan.
From there, the Jets managed field-goal drives of 49 and 63 yards, and the defense did the rest. Cornerback Darrelle Revis, delivering an encore from last week's performance against the Texans' Andre Johnson, made one interception and held Randy Moss to four catches for 24 yards. Cornerback Lito Sheppard broke up a pass in the end zone before leaving with a quadriceps injury.

Basically, they made Brady look mortal, forcing him to hurry his throws. The Patriots tried the no-huddle, but that didn't work. The Jets kept bringing the heat, with safeties blitzing from this way and linebackers coming from that way.

"He looked frustrated," Ellis said of Brady. "I could see it in his eyes. His eyes were wide open. I looked in his eyes a few times. He was trying to figure out where everyone was coming from."
Said a subdued Belichick: "We were outplayed and outcoached."
For Ryan, those words will have a certain ring.

I've come to learn that their fans are similar to Eagles fans. I think the Jets are a great team and are def for real this year. I hope they go far.
