Tim Sylvia vs. Mariusz Pudzianowski Headlines April 23 Event Near Boston
A matchup between former UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia and five-time “World’s Strongest Man” Mariusz Pudzianowski is scheduled to headline an April 23 event in Worcester, Massachusetts near Boston, according to the Boston Herald.
The card, co-promoted by Eric “Butterbean” Esch and Korean-based promotion Moosin, is also slated to include UFC veterans Rich Clementi, Yves Edwards, and Houston Alexander.
Sylvia (25-6) hasn’t fought since snapping a three-fight losing streak, which included an 9-second knockout to Ray Mercer, with a first-round TKO of Jason Riley. Another fight also awaits “The Maine-iac,” as a rematch with fellow UFC veteran Wes Sims, turned down for March in Ohio, is now expected to take place on June 5 in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada.
Pudzianowski (1-0) made his MMA debut in December, forcing former boxer Marcin Najman to submit to strikes in just 43-seconds.

I've never seen a UFC fight, THIS one looks like it's worth watching. I've never been big on Mariusz's attitude but DAMN, can't deny his strength and speed.
Rules? You mean we have RULES for that???

Yea, I think Tim will get a beat down too.

I enjoy watching two guys beat the shit out of each other.![]()

I don't know what sort of training Mariusz has gone through, but just because he's strong, doesn't mean that he's a good fighter. Just because you can hit someone doesn't mean that you can take a hit. A big part of being a good fighter is being able to take a hit.

I watched National Geographic Fight Science 2. They had Boz on there hitting a test dummy to see how much power he lays down. Keep in mind that Boz isn't a young buck. He was still hitting at well over 2000 pounds of pressure. Which is enough to know someone out, but plenty of MMA fighters can take numerous such hits because they've trained for it.

Good thing for Mariu, Timmah is not known for his punching power. He's really known for using his reach well and peppering his opponents to death with his super-slow jab. Plus he usually has the luxury of being the bigger/stronger man which he certainly won't be in this fight. Mariuz has been tossing the Polish Wrestling team around for a year now and has trained traditional martial arts for years, so he's no stranger to training. I see Mariuz rushing Tim, putting him on his back and shattering his face - even with his lack of experience. Tim Sylvia is not a great fighter.

Oh and that's just not true about "training for getting punched in the face". The more often you get rocked, the more likely you are to get rocked the next time. You can't "train" a good chin. You can either take a punch, or you can't.
