Jose Lima, former New York Mets pitcher, dies of apparent heart attack at age 37
Former major league pitcher Jose Lima, who ended his career with the Mets in 2006, has died at age 37, the Los Angeles Dodgers announced on Sunday.
According to the Aguilas Cibaenas, Lima's winter ball team in the Dominican Republic, he died of an apparent heart attack.
His wife, Dorca Astacio, told espndeportes.com that "Jose was complaining while sleeping and I just thought he was having a nightmare," Astacio told the site. "I called the paramedics, but they couldn't help him."
"This is a shock for us because Lima was a young man who seemed healthy and nobody imagined this," said Tomas Jimenez, manager of the Aguilas Cibaenas
