    MLB discussion 2011

    Lets have at it.

Looks like the Rays continue to blow up that team. It is reported that Garza will be traded to the Cubs over the weekend for 5 prospects.

Chicago Cubs are close to a trade for Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Matt Garza - ESPN New York

After last years impressive season, I am looking forward to seeing how this young talented Blue Jays team continues to progress.

I think my White Sox have the central this year.

Kinda hope the Blue Jays fill the void left by the Rays. Boston is going to be very good this year, I think. They are loaded with talent.

    Jays dump Vernon Wells Contract

I can't believe anyone picked up that beast of a contract, given the numbers Wells has put up. And they didn't have to pay a cent. The got Napoli and Rivera out of it, then went and dealt Napoli to Texas for Frank Fransisco.

Not sure where I would put the Jays this year, with the loss of Marcum, Buck, Overbay and Wells. Again time will tell in how the young prospects do.

The Jays now have four relievers who can close. If they catch fire, they ride it out with a stellar bullpen all season. If they fizzle out come trade deadline time with the AL East being so powerful, they'll have 3-4 players they can trade. Considering what the Nationals got for Matt Capps last year, I think it's an excellent place to be in.

As far as the Rays being depleted... They're "retooling." They have draft picks from all over the place next year (Crawford, Soriano, etc.) and already have the best farm system in the league. Hellickson, the number two prospect in baseball (in my opinion, the number one) will slide nicely into Garza's spot and Jennings will fill in for Crawford.

Even the Orioles aren't pathetic when you consider who they're fielding.

The AL East is going to be a battle this year...
