He should be in the hall for his outstanding performance ON the field, not banned because of his alleged performance OFF the field.

Talks are underway between Pete Rose and Bud Selig. I'd love to see Pete Rose reinstated and put into the Hall of Fame where he belongs.

The man deserves to be in the hall no matter what.![]()
the man deserves to be in the Hall no doubt. somebody had to have all of those hits. I don't care however if he ever is allowed to be a part of baseball in anyother way or not.
to be the man you have to beat the man.
there are killers, drug dealers what have you walking our streets, yet Pete Rose makes a bet and all hell breaks loose. I feeel he has paid his price, let him in the Hall of Fame for christ sake.Originally posted by ALBOB

I agree, it's all just history now, lessons learned. He needs to be in the Hall of Fame.
Plus, I have a lot of Pete Rose baseball cards that would sky-rocket in price if he does...hehehehe....
MAX. Q
by Howard Balzer
"Roughly one minute after the space shuttle launches, it must withstand a condition of extreme force known as Max Q. Mission success demands that all systems perform at the highest level.
In life, Max Q demands the same commitment to success. It requires choosing greatness, personally as well as professionally. It depends on balance, passion and courage and the wisdom gained from adversity. It is an outcome as well as an attitude."
Put him in if he's proven innocent obviously!
But the man is accused of basically almost destroying the integrity of baseball.. Personally I don't think he's guilty but he needs to be cleared before you can put a name with that kind of baggage into the Hall.
I'm not trying to bad mouth you Corri but come on;Originally posted by Corri But the man is accused of basically almost destroying the integrity of baseball.
#1 Since when has baseball had integrity? If it's a sport and you can bet on it in Vegas it's already got integrity problems. No, I don't have any proof, that's jusy my cynical view on the subject.
#2 With the other crap Baseball/Bud Selig has pulled lately, Pete Rose's effect on the game will be POSITIVE, not negative.
#3 The things he's accused of happened AFTER his playing days were over. He should be in the Hall of Fame for what he did ON the field.

That's funny.. but we both know it's not a valid argument to let him back..#1 Since when has baseball had integrity? If it's a sport and you can bet on it in Vegas it's already got integrity problems. No, I don't have any proof, that's jusy my cynical view on the subject.
Yeah, baseball's been losing lots of fans in the last 10 years (I'm one of them) but that doesn't change his tainted record.#2 With the other crap Baseball/Bud Selig has pulled lately, Pete Rose's effect on the game will be POSITIVE, not negative.
Pete Rose accuses the league of trying to use his face to save the league all the time. He calls them a bunch of hypocrites.
He was a Manager/Coach of the Reds at the time.. That's just as bad, if not worse.#3 The things he's accused of happened AFTER his playing days were over. He should be in the Hall of Fame for what he did ON the field.
He's out because he's been accused of damaging the integrity of the game, like I said. No one argues about his abilities on the field..
On this point I think he's absolutely right.Originally posted by Corri Pete Rose accuses the league of trying to use his face to save the league all the time. He calls them a bunch of hypocrites.
And again I say his election to the hall should be based on his performance as a player. If it were based on his abilities as a manager he'd be elected to the Baseball Hall of Blame. The Reds SUCKED under him. (If I have my years correct.)Originally posted by Corri He was a Manager/Coach of the Reds at the time.. That's just as bad, if not worse. You might have something confused there Albob.. Pete Rose isn't being kept out of the Hall of Fame for what he did.. that wasn't his punishment.Originally posted by ALBOB

The commissioned handed down a full ban from anything to do with the sport of baseball.. Entering the Hall of Fame is only of the many things he can't do. And the ban isn't about to fall anytime soon, unless he can prove himself innocent.
I understand perfectly why he's banned and from what but I just think the commish is wrong. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.Originally posted by Corri

(On a side note: I think he's guilty as hell of gambling on the game. I'm 50/50 on whether or not he FIXED any games so I'm not completely against the ban, I just think he deserves some Hall of Fame recognition as being, arguably, the best PLAYER that ever lived.)
