Atlanta's Uggla extends hitting streak to 33 games

ATLANTA (AP) - Braves second baseman Dan Uggla extended his hitting streak to 33 games with a first-inning single off Chicago's Randy Wells on Saturday night.
Uggla then hit a leadoff drive in the fourth for his third homer in two games. He had three hits, including two homers, in the Braves' 10-4 win over the Cubs on Friday night.
Uggla leads the Braves and is one off the National League lead with 27 homers, including 12 in 27 games since the All-Star break.
The hitting streak, which began on July 5, is the longest in the majors this season and the longest in Atlanta Braves history.
Rico Carty hit in 31 straight in 1970 for the previous Atlanta record.
Tommy Holmes holds the franchise record with 37 as a member of the Boston Braves in 1945.
Uggla entered Saturday night's game batting .370 (47 for 127) with 14 homers and 31 RBIs during the streak.
According to STATS LLC, Uggla's homer was his 49th hit in the 33-game streak. He had 55 hits in his first 86 games of 2011.

yep and 23 more games with a hit , he will beat the JOE DOM for the record. Good luck, that streak has been held for what 50-60 years. Bout time to break it i say.
