I am going try and explain my take of the supposed "Opps I fell into the Endzone" completely by accident and was trying to down the ball at the 1 yard line.
A little history lesson first Ahmad has been in the NFL since '07 and has played in 2 Super Bowls. So far sounding great as a career but his first Super Bowl was very unproductive when it came to points on the board with a huge goose egg. Now at his second and probably final attempt at the super bowl his team wants him to run the ball untouched (great plan by the pats) and stop 1 yards shy of a SUPER BOWL TD!!!! So it is my thought that ego got in the way of that plan and he said F U to his team and coaches; with every intention of running that pigskin in for his career highlight of a Super Bowl TD. As they saying goes "you can take the rat out of the hood but you can't the take good out of the rat" and that play was all about Ahmad being all for "ME" bitches.
Now let fantasize that he didn't have an ego or that he doesn't get bonus money for a post season TD and if he would have fallen on the 1 yard line. All the pats would have need to do was just let him lie there like a beached whale and the play would have never ended at least until the clock ran out because he would have never been whistled down since he was untouch. Play wouldn't have been called dead. He would have needed to make some kind of play eventually to stop the clock / play, so they could inturn kick a field goal for the 3 points.
Sorry to see the Pats loose but the Giants majorly out played them in the first quarter and it just didn't give the Pats enough time to get the W.

That could be possible but I think the giants are a class act and would have given him the bonus anyway. Also there is a rule and it says a player can give himself up at any time by taking a knee and the refs will whistle the play dead at that time and the clock would continue to run. So they would have enough time to call time out or spike the ball to stop time. The Pats had one more time out anyway. If I understand you post this is what youre saying

I would have liked to see him stop on the 1 and then see the giants miss the kick and lose the game. thats what I would have liked to see.

Ahmad is laughing his way to the bank with a shinny new ring and a truckload of cash and he has himself to thank for it.
