    Jones vs. Ruiz

Any thoughts on how Roy Jones Jr. will fair in the heavyweight fight?

Being a Jones Jr. fan, I think his talent will carry him enough to be Ruiz. He will lose some pwer, but his speed and talent will more than make up for that lack of it.

Any interested, ESPN is having a Roy Jones Jr. 'est this Saturday (March 1st) showing all his best fights. He's one of the only boxers who can dance and prance and back it up. Many try but lonly end up looking foolish when they get knocked out. Roy can come out rapping, show boat for a bit and then lay a whooping on you - why, because he can and there seems to be no one to stop him.

Gotta agree with you there, I think that Jones will be too good and too fast for that bum Ruiz.

Ruiz is too predictable, 1-2 clinch, that seems to be his gameplan every fight.

I heard that Ruiz is not doing any speed work at all and is just trying to bulk up and increase power so if he does catch Jones, I think it might be over.

    Hope Not!!

If he does get caught, it might just be over ... but the chances of that are pretty slim. I'm sure Roy will be on the lookout till he gets comfortable with the weight.

It would be interesting to see if he could put on a few more pounds and take on Lewis. Roy is the most talented boxer out there today. He certainly can lay claim to being the best pound-for-pound. I know Lewis is a giant man, but he would be no where near Roy's skill level.

Roy is not just "a natural"...he is "the natural". Throughout his career, he has always dominated, and I don't recall him getting hit by anyone with substantial power. I think he will confuse Ruiz, out-hustle him, and definately out-style him. I think that as long as Roy keeps his head together and doesn't showboat he should be okay.

How does one beat Roy Jones Jr.?
I knew how to beat a puncher like Tyson, but how do you beat a boxer who is probably quicker than you and more than likely, has better footwork?

For Ruiz, the only way I see him having a chance is to somehow box Jones in a corner and let it fly ... hoping to catch him with one big punch, but taking a beating in the process ...

true ... but he was also in a lot of wars. Guys like Roy Jones rarely get hit hard, if at all - he is that good. I believe that retiring after doing this brief heavy weight thing, would be a huge step in retaining his functionality after boxing. There are few who have been able to do it. Sugar Ray Leonard was another who got out without sustaining a lot of damage due to his speed and skill.
