After not playing golf for 10 years, I've decided to start again. I figure it will be good cardio for me since that is what I'm supposed to be doing now. Anyway, I've started looking to get into some clubs. Nothing expensive, just decent. Good enough to start back with. I went on that freaking auction site that I hate so much (cause my wife visits every chance she gets) and I found a set of clubs....Forged Irons with Titanium woods........Right now my winning bid is $31.00 US.
What kind of clubs do you own?
What ball do you use?
How many times a month do you play?
I wouldn't really call it a cardio workout, but it's still good overall exercise. It helps if you walk the course, carrying your bag. That's what I do. I hate carts.
I play a little. Maybe five times a year. I've got Tommy Armour 845 steel irons, an Orlimar driver, and a Cleveland sand wedge. The irons were hand-me-downs from my uncle, but in beautiful shape. I'll gladly take a $600 set of irons for free! I use Top Flite cheapo Wal-Mart balls. Hey, when you lose balls like I do, you don't want to be spending a lot of money on them.

I have yet to break 100 in an 18 hole round.
Someone once told me...........A bad day of golf is better than a good day at work.......
My plan is to walk. The Doc told me, I need lots of walking.

I have calloway irons, and taylor made woods with an Adams Tight Lie 3 wood that I used for most shots over 200 yds. Been playing for roughly 15yrs now. My game is off and on. One day I could shoot in the mid 80's and the next day I want break a 100. I think a lot depends on how the golf course lays out to your game. I have a good short game so playing shorter courses always improves my score. I use Titliest HVP Distance golf balls.

WOW, you have a fair about of money invested in your clubs. I've always shot better using Titliest balls. For some reason the just fly right for me.
been playing for 10 yrs on an off. i play left-handed with the taylor made super steel irons & calloway drivers, but the best club i own is a taylor made driving iron (good for about 250-275). have played almost every saturday from the beginning of march this year and a couple of times during the week. i have my handicap down to 10. most courses i scramble a little bit but average in the high 70's low 80's most of the time. i play the new nike distance balls and fell in love with them 2 years ago. before that i would play mostly titliest balls.
only sport you'll ever play were the ball is not moving and you dictate all the action. in the course of 5 minutes you can go from the top of the world (killing an awesome drive) to the lowest feeling ever (shanking your approach shot).
anyway i love the sport and it gives me time away from the wife and kids, granted i have to get up at 4am on a saturday to get a 5:45am tee time and then we are done by 10am and i still have the rest of the day to do what i want (most of the time it is a long afternoon nap ) but heh who is complaining!

Screw that! If I am behind a tree, I kick the ball to a better lie.
Damn right. My "Leather Wedge" is the best club in my bag.
Hogan Edge GS forged irons. (I love the feel of forged clubs.) Cleveland Sand wedge. Hogan Gap and Lob wedges. Hogan GCD 3-wood. Founders Club 4-wood. Driver? Vee don' need no steenkin driver. (I hit my 3-wood anywhere from 280-300 yards and consistantly keep it in the fairway. With a driver I'd be using my leather wedge WAY too often soooooooooooooooo, the driver's collecting dust in the garage. The 4-wood is great for 250 yard shots that need to hold the green or tee shots on short par 4's.
Oh yeah, Carbite putter. They feel great and the company went bankrupt so you can get a brand new one for about $40.

Not really, Their mostly christmas / birthday presents from either the wife or parents. Now the golf balls are expensive for me. When I'm not hitting the ball good I usually switch to Top Flite Magna balls. I've found that I can hit them straighter but with less distance. By the way Rusty, looks like a nice set of clubs. Hope you win the bid.
Oh yeah, I forgot about the balls. Top Flight XL-3000 "Exceptional Spin". I can usually find an 18 pack for $20-$24. I used to be able to get REALLY good used Titleist Tour Balata 100's for $1 each but the store where I bought them closed.
