Well, I live in Big East country, and I don't understand what the hell is going on. All I know is, it would suck to see four teams depart for the ACC. That would seriously hurt the Big East.

What is it with the ACC? They finally agreed that they wanted Miami and Virginia Tech. Not Syracuse and Boston College. Now Miami is saying they want Syracuse and BC before they come into the ACC. What a mess! Why not take all four?

Yeah that would suck! But I'm sure it's about money!

Isn't it always???
Well, here in ACC country, we are all pretty pissed at UNC and Duke for spoiling the party. Adding those teams would have been awesome.
I doubt the ACC will survive in the long run if this does not go through. FSU will leave as will Ga Tech. I hope Clemson leaves too, but they are such a small market team, I just don't know.
All I know is that I hate UNC and Duke all the more now and can't wait to drag their butts up and down the football field.

I think this is to make the ACC a bigger football conference. It already is one of the tops in Basketball.

It's always about MONEY. What is a little crazy (IMO) is that they picked Miami, one of the football powerhouses every year. FSU is up there also although they have just recently started a downward spiral. Why have two major football powerhouses in the same conference? It's not like in basketball where multiple teams from any conf. can make the big dance in different brackets.

Hmmmmmmm? Will they or won't they join today????

They will. They would be foolish not too.

Here's a good rumor...rumor has it the ACC has given Notre Dame 90 days to evaluate an offer for them to join the ACC as the 12th team.
Wow!

Wow!
Why would Notre Dame forfeit a $150 million TV contract to join a conference? That would make no sense. They do much better as an independent.
Miami and VA Tech leaving for the ACC KILLS the Big East (literally). You need 8 teams to be a Div I conference. UConn has decided to upgrade to Div I a year early, which now puts the Big East at 6 teams. The Big East has to go looking for two more teams now, and you can not replace two powerhouse programs like VA Tech and Miami.

1. that contract runs out soon.
2. the football landscape is changing. A playoff is not far away and it will involve large conference champions advancing. A national contender will have to be in a conference.
Notre Dame will not be independent in football much longer.
Now, will they join the ACC, I doubt it, but they will join somewhere...they have to.

That makes sense. Rumor around here is the Big East will go after them. After all, Notre Dame hoops are in the Big East.Originally posted by Pepper
