He's only 19 seconds back overall. No reason why he can't finish in the top 10. He was in a similar position last year after three stages. LOTS of racing yet to come.
Lance is way back there right now.... Do you think he'll finish in the top 10 this time?

After stage four, Lance is 2nd overall, .01 behind the leader. Team US Postal occupies the top 8 spots.

The scary thing is that Lance said he didn't really train all that hard this year, but he still won! He also said he's going to train very hard for #6.Originally posted by dg806

How about Tyler Hamilton!? Dude breaks his collar bone on day two, but goes on to finish 4th overall. Un-frickin'-believeable.

I don't even see how he rode, with the pain!Originally posted by I Are Baboon

AND he was actually MAKING UP time in the last few days of the race, including actually winning one stage (Stage 16?). I think when Lance retires he will be the next American hopeful in cycling.
Today I can do what others will not so that tomorrow I will do what others cannot.
The difference between winners and losers is that winners do things that losers don't want to do.
Had this been any other race I would had said, PAINKILLERS!!!
But the doping crew was testing all of the top four and a random racer,on EVERY stage,as soon as it was done!!!

Well I said it then (see above) and I'm quoting myself. I'd rather just reprint then say,,,,, I TOLD YOU SO!!! Lance is the king of the road without a doubt. He won even though this was the worst outing he has ever had in this race. He had a flu as well as alot of other obstacles this year and he still won. He should be the one and only spokesmen for that Nike commercial or who ever it is with the slogan,,, "JUST DO IT". because he does it like no other.Originally posted by firestorm

Tboy,, after winning this year after all the bad luck he had and illness,,, the word retirement should not even be in his vocabulary at this time. He won at his worst beating all the best. As long as he stays healty and things fall into place as they should,, I don't see retirement even coming into play for a few years. I think that when he comes out feeling good and no excuses, and either wins narrowly like this year or looses, that is when he will retire. His body will make that decision for him.Originally posted by Tboy
