Yea man,, I'm totally stoked!!! The best part about it is that it's Intermediate/Advanced course. Lots of everything. Singletrack, Climbs, some downhill, stream crossings, rocks, roots you name it. It will be challenging to say the least but man I can't wait! Believe me,, I will be taking pictures!!!!

Thumbs up

Excellent. 24hour races are great fun - prepare to be insanely tired on the Monday though! They're also addictive. Did my first one (in a team) last spring and really enjoyed it.

I wanted to do another one later in the year but there were no team places left so I did it solo.... which is even more tiring, yet strangely more addictive. Each time I race solo, I swear I'll never do another, but a week later I'll be raring to go. Done 2 so far this year, and possibly another one in September

Couple of tips though, make sure you've got really comfy grips on your bike, or you won't be able to hold the bars in the last few hours. Also, make sure you stay very well hydrated.... and the most important tip, have fun

REPLY: Hey thanks for all the Imput Crash! I'm having more difficulty putting a team together then I originally expected. It's looking like I may end up a solo also which I really didn't want to do the 1st time out. I have zero idea of what to really expect yet have to do it alone makes it even worse.

If you're doing solo, my only advice would be to take it easy! Ride the first few laps as gently as you can, barely getting out of breath.... otherwise, you'll blow up by halfway.

Oh, also, take some food that doesn't need much chewing - in the last few hours it's too easy to forget to eat, something that's easy to grab and need no effort to eat will keep you going.... pb&j sandwiches, custard, energy gel etc. are ones I've found are good.

Good Luck!

Sounds like a plan there Sawheet but beer makes me tired plus the race is being held on Private Property. I believe the land is owned by the Boy Scouts of America so booze is prohibited on the property and camping areas.

Well I have 2 others now pal. 3 man team. That should be ok. 4 would be ideal but what the hell. You have to make due with what you have.

yeppp around 200.00 from performance. I lucked out though My bike store is sort of a silent sponsor and lent me some including 4 extra batteries. I shouldn't even have to recharge. They gave me a free wheelset, and several tubes and a bunch of other goodies. Big deal that all I had to do is wear their store jersey. hahahaha

I just saw something like this on TV.
http://www.24hoursofadrenalin.com/
It sounds like a blast ... how did it turn out?

Since this Vegas meeting thing, I thought it would be cool to put together an IM 24 hour team ... anyone have comments? I'd be a beginner so that would have to be taken into consideration.

just kick'in it in the ole Charger

I was gonna do a 4 day bike trip, where we were going from pittsburgh to DC... i decided to stay home though cuz im trying to save all the lean mass i can; being a hard gainer.

you guys think it is possible to acomplish such a trip and not lose any muscle @ all?
like, say you CONSTANTLY eat power gel and penut butter; or whatever... will your muscles break down?

I'm not a biker, but I would be willing to bet you would have at least some tissue breakdown. When is your trip. Start trying to put a little weight on now instead of trying to gain it afterwards, because you will probably lose some weight training for it if it is not already coming up soon.

I didn't notice any bodyweight loss over the weekend so I don't think one weekend thing will hurt you enough to worry about. Biking is a cardiovascular workout no matter how you look at it. Your going to burn calories you just need to put em back.
