I can't believe they have the yankees in front of the Braves!

The Braves look very strong this year! The Yankees just always seem to pick it up when they need to. You can not argue with their post season success. The Braves always seem to stumble a bit in the playoffs.

screw the yanks i hope they lose first round, if they don't get a bye. It's about time they start losing.

Chuck Norris once lost his keys and couldn't remember where he put them. So he tortured himself for half an hour until he gave up their location.

how in the hell are they going to get a bye? you should learn how the system works before you start bashing a team...

dg - actually i was reading an article about the way the odds were done and most has to do with Atlanta's post season record and starters records. i mean with the way Maddox is getting killed and Hampton in a short series they could be in real trouble and Smoltz might not even get a chance to be in big games without the lead.

No one is going to touch New York in the American League. As bad as the Yankee bullpen is, it does not matter because no offense except Boston's can do any damage to them, and Boston will not make the post-season.

I think New York could lose in the World Series though. I am thinking this might finally be San Francisco's year.

S.F. has been playing well as year. as long as they don't run into someone hot during the playoffs i think they can make it back to the series, but you know me i think the Yanks have just a good a shot at winning the series as always. it is just the bullpen that makes me a little worried.

in K.C. yesterday they were talking about how Mel wants the starters to go deeper into games and Musina gives him 8 shutout 3 hit ball. Giambi is really starting to heat up and Bernie is finally swinging the bat after being out for 2 months. Jeter is hitting everything and it is just a matter of time before Boone gets hot

Boone was a huge pickup. I don't get it...from what I heard out of Yankee Nation was anger over Ventura getting shipped off. Boone is younger and (IMO) a better hitter. Seems to me like your only weakness is your pen, and that could give you real problems in the post-season.

the problem didn't really stem from loosing Ventura, it was giving up Clausen who was supposed to be untouchable. a lot of people are worried that we have given too much away in the farm system and we are going to fall back into the mode of the late 80's early 90's mode again.

getting Nelson for Benitez was a huge pickup as well. the worst signing was Hammond - IMO. i wouldv'e stuck with Stanton over him (even though Stanton is having a down year). once Contreas comes back (in about 2 weeks) and a healthy Karsey (remember him) the bullpen will be solid again next year.

i think the worst trade the sox made was for Suppan. Forrsum is a much better pitcher but he seems to be thriving coming out of the pen. i just don't see any depth in the starting pitching beyone Pedro and Lowe. Burkett seems to be on the last leg and is loosing it quickly. by the way where has Wakefield been. i haven't heard of him getting into a game in a while?

only good thing in sports in the Boston area this year is gonna be the Patriots. the defense is gonna be much better and a lot faster than in years past. Klecko is gonna be a good one - one strong Mutha Fuqer there. hell, he plays everything from DL to LB in the schemes.

Wakefield has been solid all year. 9-5, 4.15 ERA. He gives us 6 or 7 innings every time out and that's all we really ask. He's been an excellent 3 or 4 pitcher this year and has even made several relief appearances between starts. Casey Fossum has had arm problems this year and has little confidence. Hopefully he'll rebound next year and live up to expectations. Suppan has been friggin worse than Ramiro Mendoza was as a starter.

I have heard Yankee fans worry about falling into 80's and early 90's mode, but George would not allow that to happen. As much as I hate the man, he knows how to build a winner. Isn;t Contreras like 20 years old? He needs time to develop. Most pitchers that young spend more time in the minors.

i believe the Contreras is in his mid 20's (never know with the Cubans). he will be a solid starter next year! your right George will never let the team fall back into the old yanks after this solid run. watch them pick up a big bat in the winter to play right field. only problem next is the starting pitching. loosing Clemmons and probably Wells will be a huge loss and the possibility of loosing Pettite as well to free agency could cost us huge.

OK, so you lose those guys. That also frees up salary room, and what free agent pitcher would NOT want to play for the Yankees?

The Yankees always have a busy off season, so you have nothing to worry about.

Sox 6 1/2 back and fading fast! seems things have caught up to them and they are starting to buckle to the pressure. after the A's they have the Mariners for 3 more games.

i don't know who is going to win it all this year, but i still feel that the braves are at their weakest in the opening round of any division series. their starting pitching once you get past Ortiz is not what it is all cracked up to be. Maddox has had an aweful year, Hampton is over rated and if they are loosing there is no way that Smoltz will even get an opportunity get into a game.

Now with the A's, the offense isn't as strong as it needs to be and with Mulder possibly hurt worse then they are letting on and Zito having a very down year i don't think they will get to the ALCS.
