Did you see the Cub's shortstop do a Billy Buck impersonation?

lol
The Cubs might actually be more cursed than the Red Sox, if that is possible.

No, I did not see that. I didn't see the game last night, I only saw the highlights and read about this online.Originally posted by CaptainDeadlift

I think most fans would have done the same thing. When a ball is coming at you, I imagine you just think "SOUVENIR", not thinking about what the play would mean in the outcome of the game. Still, this guy was in the wrong place at the wrong time.![]()
The umpire said that the fan did not reach over the railing, but merely reached up towards the ball. The announcers on ESPN this morning said that if the ball is coming down into the stands, the fans have a right to catch the ball and it is NOT interference. Reaching over the railing is cause for an interference call (except in Yankee stadium).

Dude, if the fan did that in Yankee Stadium and cost them a win, he seriously would have been mauled.Originally posted by CaptainDeadlift

I was referring to the Jeffrey Maier incident, where the kid reached over the railing and prevented a Baltimore outfielder from making a catch, turning a flyout into a Jeter homerun. Replays clearly indicated the fan interference should have been called.
You're right about a fan costing the Yankees a win, though. A mauling would definitely be in order.

Of course, how could I forget young Mr Maier's home run catch??

I really don't think most fans would have done the same thing. Maybe most kids. I do feel bad for him though.
Man, it'd be nice if the BoSox could knock the Yankees out!
My Carb Cycling Progress - you can't hide from the numbers.
I feel so bad for this guy. I am watching the game right now. They showed the pic from last night and there is like 7 other people reaching for that ball. What I found particularly funyy were the announcers as they were trying to tell the people of Chicago not to overreact.
"I sincerely hope that no one does something to this young man."
"I hear ya, this Young man Steve Bartman definitely did not mean to do this."
"I hear ya. People should not do anything to this young man, Steve Bartman."
That's just great, now any dumb ole drunk will know this kids name, they must have mentioned it 100 times. I'm surprised they didn't give his address and next of kin.
If sense were common, everyone would have it.

The baseball gods have been very unpredictable this year. Who would have thought that the Marlins would go into Wrigley field and beat both Prior and Wood in consecutive games?

Roger did it in the first game. He also has more post season experience than Pedro. I would say Roger will be on. I'm concerned Pedro won't be. I'm pulling for the SOX!

I don't care what the umpire said, nothing argues with that picture above or the replay. That dumb ass fans arm is over the railing. Look at the players arm and glove. It is clearly NOT in the stands or over the railing. Close but not over. That ball was coming down and if not touched would have hit the ledge on the ballfield side of the railing if not clear the wall all together.Originally posted by CaptainDeadlift

Also look at that pic. the Fans hands are CLEARLY over the railing and beyond the wall totally. That was in no doubt interference.
I hope Chicago kicks that asshole out of the state. What a dumbass look on his face after that play. I just wanted to slap the bitch through the tv screen.
