Thumbs up Almost NBA Time Fellas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am a huge Basketball fan and I am genually excited for this season for the first timein a few years. There are more than a few competitive teams (at least in the West). So who is everyone rooting for?? Better yet, who are everyones pre season picks to win it all, make the playoffs, self combust?? Let it be known. Obviously the Lakers are the best team in the league on paper with Payton, Malone, Shaq, and Kobe in the lineup. The Timberwolves are lookin good this year, they added Sprewell and Cassel to take the load off of last MVP in my mind Garnett. The Spurs are always lookin good, Tony Parker is getting better with every year and Duncan is Duncan. The Kings are dope and continue to be every year, you can't count them out. The Mavericks signed Antawn Jamison which is a huge pickup for them ,although IMO they had to give up their best player in Van Exel to get him, but Jamison is another guy than can score in teh middle for them, they are lookin good. The suns are dope with Stephon Starbury and Amare Stoudemire. Portland always has the talent if they can just stay out of jail for some time. Unfortunately the Sonics are trash, I can't believe that they gave up GP. Anyways, let it be known.

I made a bet with my buddy that *IF* the lakers have Kobe, Shaq, Malone and Payton for this year, they will win it all (if they can get by the Celts of course haha)

No question the west is gonna dominate again (for all the reasons gr mentioned).

I'm a Celtics fan, so their the only team i actually follow. i'll watch other games occasionally, but i love listening to Tommy Heinsohn yell at the refs and swear no Celtic in the history of the NBA has ever actually commited a foul.

There's mad people on IM that hate the C's (and Boston in general), but i dont give a f*ck. one guy actually said Pierce might be good one on one, but thats it. He's like top 10 players in the NBA, no question.

Paul Pierce is the Mutha F*ckin TRUTH!

I have to disagree iwth ya man. Let me first say that basketball is right up there with BB for me, it was my first love and I will always love it more than anything else. I know my shit when it comes to the game and If I were a coach or GM, Pierce would not be on my team, no way. No question he has talent, no doubt. But his problem, in fact the entire Celts problem is they make bad decisions with the ball. Him and Walker are the leaders of that team and they don't have the mindstate to be the leaders. I don't hate them at all either, but one game they wil score over 110 and be clicking, and the next they won't break 70. They take bad shots all the time. Neither of them have the patience to be a leader in their offense, can they put the ball in the hoop, hell ya, but they can't make their teamates around them better. Too may bad decisions, bad shots keep them from beating better teams like the nets in a half court offense. You have to get your teamates involved and maintain composure when you are in the payoffs, not take wild low percentage shots, ya feel me F?

but i must say ,,, west has got it all,, kings mavs spurs lakers ,,, but who thinks what malone and payton did was kinda cheesy,, honestly i was thinking about it ,, and i feel for them because nobody in the league now deserves a championship more then these 2 but i just cant look at it being a championship accomplishment ( we might as well bring patrick ewing back in the league and throw him on the laker roster as well coz he definetly deserves a ring)

I'm a big NBA fan too, basketball is probably my favorite sport. My two favorite teams are the Kings and the Pistons (i'm from michigan so it's a given). I really hope they face each other in the finals and I think it could happen. Pistons are a great team imo and sometimes aren't given the credit they deserve just because they don't have any big names really. You've got Chauncy Billups and Ben Wallace who is the man. Plus they just got Darko 2nd pick at the draft (although they say he's a time investment).

The kings would have won last year if not for webbers absence I think. We'll have to see what happens this year though.

are you serious kid? you wouldnt take Pierce? Shaq, Kobe, McGrady, Duncan, Garnett, Iverson, Webber...not too many more guys I'd DEF. take in front of Pierce.

The reason they make bad decisions and take bad shots is because they HAVE to (obviously they don't try to make bad decisions, but meaning the ball MUST be in thier hands). NO ONE else on their team could score the last 2 years. They were 100% relied on to do the scoring (Pierce and 'Twan were the #1 and 2 leading scorers on the Celts in like 71 outta 82 games or something like that).

Dude, the rest of thier team is not good. who else can you give the ball to...NO ONE. Eric Williams? Tony Battie? J.R. Bremer? these guys are all not top quality pros, not a very good supporting cast. So they relied on those 2 to score, and basically to alwasy have the ball, thus they are going to have to force the ball sometimes, and when you force it, you make bad decisions.

They don;t take wild shots, except for Walker's occasional bomb 3's. Pierce's turnaround fade away from the elbow/wing is one of the most unstoppable shots in the NBA when he's on.

Lakers are going to be strong this year, no question about it. I'm hoping the Mavs have a better time in the playoffs this year, personally I think they can go all the way. They just need a stronger presence down low... a BIG man not just a 7'3" man that could possibly fall over if a strong wind started up.

Pierce rocks nufff said! Another thing gr8 u thought Van Bricko was the best guy on the Mavs! C'mon man dude can get things hot every now and then but Dirk is the man on that squad. As for this season I think Lakers have it pretty sowed up. Team chemisty may be a little screwed up but that is way too many stars on one team. I hope the Rockets make the playoffs Yao is a better player than a lot of peeps down here thought he would be. This season looks promising in my opinion last season was pretty boring.

I think Dirk is my least favorite player in the nba, frekin punk. Plus nash with his mullet. I don't know if I like bradly or not-when he turns to the side I can't evne see him on the court so I can't watch him play.

I personally cant wait either for the nba to start, so many exciting changes in a lot of teams, i hope this year the bulls at least make the playoffs . I also think the lost of van exel for the mavs was a significant one the guy showed alot of heart the last playoffs against the kings. About pierce i think he has alot of raw talent but he is missing something, the biggest problem is Antoine walker who just parks his ass in the 3 point line and has lost a lot of athletic ability, perhaps Danny Ainge can resolve the C´s problems in future years.

I haven't exactly been playing real close attention to the nba though...how did payton get on the lakers? What happened to Robert Horry, he was my fav lakers player. I know he went to spurs but how?

there are so many guys I would take in front of Pierce. I here ya when you say that the rest of the team isn't very good but that is the job of a great player, to make his teamates around him better, plain and simple. He is a Good talent, doesn't have the mental capacity to take it to the next level IMO and he has proven that so far. I watched that game against detriot last year where they made were just on fire from downtown, made some crazy amount of three pointers which was crazy. Then one of the next games both teams scored like a record low in points, that is what I am talking about, they are too eratic. Look at Garnett, he didn't have an allstar team in Minn, not by a long shot, Kendall Gill Troy hudson and Gary Trent. But Garnett being the great player he is made them all better, he got them involved and had his role players stepping up. Pierce and Walker cannot do that, htey are good but not great. Walker is even worse, he should be in the paint bangin away. he had great moves on the low block, but he stays out beyaond the stripe like he is Craig Hodges or some shit, shooting 3s from 10 feet out the line, ridiculous. The only reason the yeven made the playofffs is b/c the East is so F'n bad all the time, they need to add pieces of the puzzle in Boston to do anything, they won't win with those two leading the team.

I didn't say that he was the best player, he was the most important last year in the playoffs. to have a player of Nicks Caliber coming off the bench is awesome fro them, he fit in so well. Van Exel is the most clutch player on that team, whenever they needed a bucket they got it from them. Dirk had several games in the playoffs where he didn't produce. Van exel is one of my favorite players in teh league, he is sooo underated. He is a top 5 guard. Back when he was on the Lakers he was the most dependant player they had in the playoffs too, remember how clutch he was in '95 beating Seattle. He can do it all. Dirk id teh man, Finley is also the man, I love the Mavs, but they were definately better with Nick the quick.

Howard Schultz, the Sonics owner refused to renogotiate Gary's contract before the season ended liek Gary wanted. He wanted an extension before he was a free agent and this asshole schultz refused. Payton wanted to finish his career in Seattle and instead he drove him off. They traded him and Desmond Mason to the Bucks for Ray Allen and Kevin Ollie. Gary was a free agent at the end of the year and he signed with LA for less money. Horry was a free agent and just signed with San Antonio.

Hey Flex, did you read the trade Boston made today? Boston acquires Raef LaFrentz, Chris Mills, Jiri Welsch and a 2004 first-round pick from Dallas for Tony Delk and Antoine Walker.

What do you think about that?

Well all you 'Toine haters, employee #8 is now a Mav. Danny Ainge is now one of my arch nemesises, seems like they got a shitty deal to me. But of course, can't say that till you see how shit works out.

Gr, i dont know where you get your opinion on the C's from....The only knock on Walker was, like you said, he took too many 3's. I agree he should bang in the paint more, but still....

Both guys DID make the players (again, who arent good) better. Walker led the team in assists the last 2 years (as a Pf), and there are only 2 guys in the NBA who averaged more rebs AND assists per game than Pierce (one being Walker, the other Garnett)

That's exactly my point though, how him and Walker were the ONLY 2 players on their team. They scored about HALF of the Celts points and led the team in assists, don't know how else they can make their teammates better.

You compare Pierce to Garnett, and i said KG, Kobe, Shaq, Duncan, McGrady, Iverson, Kidd are the only players that are DEF better than him. All those great players have their own faults too don't forget.
You're a funny guy, Sully, I like you. Dat's why I'm going to kill you lahst.

im not really sure about that trade the mavs just made, lafrentz wasnt what they where expecting, but i think they are relaying to much on danny fortson and he hasnt even played one game of the coming season. Only time can tell if the trade worked.

Payton is much better, Webber is better, Rasheed Wallace is better, Marbury is better, Jermaine O'Neal is better, Stevie Franchise is better, I would take all those guys way before Walker and Pierce. Much better team players IMO. I guess we just have to agree to disagree. I am just lookin at it from an unbiased perspective, I am not hating on them. They are your home team however so of course you are gonna love them no matter what. Pierce has alot of proving to do before he should be considered one of the leagues best, he hasn't done it yet. no way of saying one player is better then the other w/o taking a look at whose on there team,, personally i believe kevin garnett is an all a round amazing player because look what he has to work with ,,, duncan , kobe and the rest you listed out all come from a well structured team
i also think a player is considered GREAT when BOTH his offence and defencive skills are showing numbers not just offence..even though it might look prettty going in the basket... still doesnt make him a great all a round player,,,
my opinions,, KG,, tim duncan, shaq , malone and who can ever forget mr . micheal jordan

Out of those guys i think the only "def" better is Webber. Obviously its all our opinions as to who's better, but if you wanna go just from a number perspective....

If you wanna go by how their team is, every guy except Jermaine O'neal/Payton is on a NASTY west coast team. And the pacers have a pretty good squad, only team that sucks are the Bucks....Makes ALL the difference how good your team is.....

how much fun are watching C's games with Tommy and Gorman? OMG i have a blast...hearing Tommy say how the celtics have never commited a real foul in the history of their franchise haha

man i take alot of shit for bein a Celts fan (and Boston fan in general), but i'm representin beantown.

right now it seems we got ripped right? but i guess we can't say anything until we see how the season goes. I guess that guy Jury something from Poland is like 6'7" pg thats supposed to be pretty good.

Dallas is gonna be nasty! (Dirk, Nash, Finley, Jamison and 'Toine)!!! That's 5 all stars on one starting 5!
we gotta root for Dallas to have the worst record in the NBA cuz we get thier First round pick next year.

    I Loooooooove Walta!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You're a funny guy, Sully, I like you. Dat's why I'm going to kill you lahst.

Sometimes you just feel tired, u feel weak
And when you feel weak, you feel like you wanna just give up
But you gotta search within you, try to find that inner strength
and just pull that shit out of you
And get that motivation to not give up, and not be a quitter
No matter how bad you wanna just fall flat on your face, and collapse..

If you wanna go by indiv. #'s there you go, Pierce is better overall than everyone except webber.

thats the thing, you can't go by individual #. Individual stats are not important, Ws are important. Pierce can't do the things that Payton does day in and day out to give his team a W. There are some things that you can't account for in the stat book. There are players that can win the game without even scoring, with Dfense and team leadership, Pierce can't do that. We will see. Anyways it all good, Since I care only about the West coast teams anyways I will root for the Celts in the east for ya Flex, how does that sound?
