$20million signing bonus is pretty damn good. Good enough to retire immediately LOL. Maybe he'll take the money & ritire LOL
The Giants training camp starts today in Albany New York.
I still don't think it was right for him to or his father to cry & get traded to the Giants from San Diego. But I think The Chargers are better off with Philip Rivers from NC State.
After watching Philip Rivers perform there at NC State, I think he's a more mature player than Eli Manning.
How do you guys think Eli is taking it playing back up to MVP & Pro Bowler Kurt Warner?
But at least finally they came to terms with a contract. Cutting it a little close right up to training camp today.
I agree............I wouldn't pay him a dime until he proves himself.

He does deserve a contract but certainly not $20million for a signing bonus.
Like I said who's to stop him from retiring right now & running with the $20million? I know he probably won't but who knows what is going through these guys minds like Ricky Williams for example.
Johnny, I am sure there are clauses in his contract that make him pay a prorated amount of that bonus back if he tries to retire early. If there is not, the Giants are stupid and his agent is a genius.

I know, I was only joking with the Ricky Williams fiascal.

When I first started hearing about Eli Manning at Ole' Miss I saw his highlights & stats & was very impressed by his ability.
But when I heard about his whinning & crying that the Chargers drafted him, I saw him in a different way. An ugly way.
He reminds me of another QB who was drafted by the Chargers, then went to Tampa & then Dallas for a couple of years I believe in 2001 was Ryan Leaf drafted 1st overall.
That Ahole just talked & flapped his gums right out of football with his attitude. Fighting with his team mates in the locker room & so on.
What's with QB's now a days? They give guys with major attitude problems all the bonuses & contracts in the world & then they don't even give a chance to a very descent QB who did amazing in NFL Europe.
I'm talking about Quarter Back Ron Powlus from Notre Dame University. He was great. His problem in Notre Dame that affected his draft stats & possible career was that most of their recievers would drop perfectly thrown passes right into their numbers & of course the QB gets blamed. I remember the commentary of those games.
The only great WR they had was Derrick Mayes who broke Tim Brown's recieving record at UND & he was drafted by the Packers & then went to KC. Does anyone know where he is now? Mayes I mean?
& does anyone know where QB Ron Powlus is now? The last NFL team he was with in 2002 was Philidelphia & he was there for about 2-3yrs but Phili had believe it or not 4 QB's on their starting roster & McNabb was first then AJ Feely & Ron Powlus 3rd I forget the 4th guy. He was also with Detroit before with his TE teammate Pete Chrypelwych.
This relates to Eli's case as his whinning & complaining should make it that he doesn't deserve all of that when there are other much better QB's out there who aren't as well known.
Personaly i think Eli is over rated like his brother, but I wonder if his going to be like his brother a great pocket-passer and really sucks on the scramble.. If so his not worth 20 million signing bonus as an rookie.

One of the Detmer brothers (I can never remember if it's Ty or Coy. ) was actually 2nd behind McNabb, then Feely and Powlus. I haven't checked lately but the last I heard Powlus was still on their practice roster.

Yeah, Payton needs to work on his scrambling skills, but I do think that Eli Manning is overrated & doesn't deserve $20 million.

Yeah I think you're right about being 3rd or 4th for Ron Powlus on the Eagles roster. But he's a much better QB than Eli ever was.
So he's still on the practice squad? The last I saw him was in NFL Europe 2002 I think for the Amsterdam Admirals. I have this one game on tape that I was lucky enough to get on Fox
The team was down say 30-3 or 30-7 or something. Powlus came in at the start of the 2nd half & brought the team back to win by a close game.
In one half of football Powlus threw for over 300 yards passing & I think was around %55-%60 completion & threw for a couple of touchdowns & ran a touch down in & it turned out to be the Admirals only rushing touch down all year as they didn't have a very good rushing season.
But the games that I saw Powlus play proved to me that he is a good enough QB provided he has good WR's who can actually catch his perfectly thrown spiral passes.
Premier
Fuck Eli. Whiny little bitch.
I agree with you on that one but.....
hope he breaks his arm in pre-season.
This one is a little harsh. I wouldn't wish an injury on anyone.
After seeing team mates go down b/c of an injury, it's not a fun thing.
Did you guys know that there is also a 3rd Manning brother?
Last year during the "home coming game" for Peyton Manning at the New Orleans Saints, at one point they showed the press box with Peyton's family.
His 2nd younger brother was this tall skinny guy & they said he was a football player who would be entering his senior year of highschool in 2004 & he played WR. But he injured his shoulder.
When I saw him I don't know if he had to stop training b/c of his injury or if he was always that small, but I said to myself how can he play WR being that tall & skinny?
He'd get crunched even with highschool football. He looked to be say 6ft1 175lbs which is pretty small at that height for a WR.
Some of the guys we played with, our WR's some were already 200lbs at 6ft in highschool. That's why I wonder how he doesn't get crunched.
Or maybe that is why he injured his shoulder, b/c he was to skinny?
