i'll be the first to give the sox props for making up so many games so quickly (personally i didn't see it happening either). and i'm just saying this as a true baseball fan (cause there is nothing more i would love to see than the yanks/sox in the ALCS again) i just hope they aren't peaking to soon and possibly fall hard come playoff time.

and yeah, i'm really pumped up about next week. i almost feel like i should be taking some time off from work cause you know each night is gonna kill me.

i know how most guys who love the yanks always talk shit about anything boston but if you truly love the game you have to also root for them cause that is where the best competition is gonna come from no matter how you look at it

Oh man, Fenway is such a great experience. I've probably been to about 75 games in my life. Not bad considering I'm two hours away. I've seen Pedro pitch like 10 times.

I have not been to any games this year. I tried to get tickets when they first went on sale, but I could not get through on the phone or internet so I gave up. You can get tickets on Ebay, but they aren't cheap.

Edit: I've been to Yankee Stadium a couple of times. I've also been to Camden Yards, the old Veteran Stadium in Philly, Shea Stadium, Olympic Stadium (Montreal), Tropicana Field (Tampa Bay), Edison Field (Anaheim), and Pro Player Stadium (Florida Marlins). I am hoping to check out a Giants game when I am in San Fran next week.

The best Red sox team I ever saw was the 1975-76 RED SOX.

The Sox are playing great now but as history dictates they will falter in the end.
To be honest with you the Red sox losing in the end adds to their drama, if they ever won the world series they would never be looked at the same way.
    Just like the lovable cubs.
I remember the Mets of the 80's before they won the series in 1986 they were loved by the whole city, but after 1986 they were expected to win all the time and when they didn't they were criticized big time.

So basically the Red Sox being losers is actually good for Baseball.
By the way I just love Fenway park.

I completely agree that the Sox losing adds to their drama, but if they win, i don't even think they'll have a chance to be looked at differently, the entire city of Boston will blow up. If (or should i say, when) the Sox win it all, fans will be relieved, number one, and secondly, will think of anything less as a letdown (like you said), just like the Yanks do.

i really agree with the rest of your post, but history? history? come on, bro. in sports the previous years don't mean much. every year is a new year, new players, new positions, new chances. Yank fans of all people should know that. They have failed the last 3 years to win. Blew it against Zona, lost to Florida and missed out when Anahiem won. That's forming a pretty consistent history of losing, no? But in reality, do you care? no. You know as well as i every year is a new chance. They won a few Series over the last decade. But, Is that good enough? no. I prefer the phrase "what have you done for me lately.

    Actually yes.
I have can die in peace knowing they have. Don't get me wrong I have always liked and respected the Bosox, now the fans do tend to have a chip on their shoulders.
Now I really hate the dodgers though.

I know with the Pats over the last 3 years i've been more spoiled than i could ever imagine. My Superbowl need is fulfilled, but once you get up there, you only wanna get back. They werent supposed to win that much, or beat the Rams, or have such a good season last year, or win the Superbowl. but now they are, and it seems like anything less is tough to swallow.

i understand you're need is fulfilled with a few Series. But at the same time isn't anything less a letdown? otherwise Yank "fans" could care less whether their team finishes in last place from now on?

No, you are right to some extent. When the Yankees lost to Arizona and the Marlins I was sad but at least I knew they would still be competitive. Unlike the Mets who really disappoint me time after time.
