You asked if there were any soccer fans, I just stated that I am not. I will no longer post in this thread, I apologize.

This will piss you off, but I think that soccer is the worst thing that has happened to this country sports-wise. Kids are all playing it now b/c parents perceive it as safer. Fewer kids are playing the real sports - football, basketball and baseball.

I depise soccer. There is no more boring a sport to watch.

    Sorry. Had to say it.

Soccer is fairly boring usually, but I enjoy the World Cup.

Yes I love football. In 1½ h its champions league again, I cant wait. I hope Zlatan scores against Bayern, although he is a punk.

People who dont like football and say that it is boring just does not understand it, all they understand and appreciate is scoreing or a hard tackle. Football is to complex and "classy" for them. (NOT trying to offend anyone)

American football is also fun to watch, although there is waaaayyy to much commercials and stuff like that. And lets face it, the only games that matter in am football is the 3 last, the regular season is useless

And its just rugby with 30 lbs of protection gear.

This is probably true. I know that two sports I follow - NASCAR and baseball - are often called boring. However, if you follow the sport, there is much more to it than what you see casually.

I assume soccer is the same way.

    Nah, it's just boring.
I do like to watch the British/Scottish games, in hopes of catching a nice, bloody riot or two.

I find all baseball except LCS and World Series baseball boring. I used to find Nascar boring, but I don't anymore. It is not something I will go out of my way to watch, but if nothing else is on I will watch it, before I would just play video games.

I do find Soccer boring, but I love playing it. I think that is the same with all sports, I like PLAYING baseball, Tennis, and Golf, but I hate watching it unless there is a championship.
If sense were common, everyone would have it.

Soccer is certainly not any safer then basketball or baseball. By your logic basketball and soccer players are lesser athletes then football players or hockey players. Soccer is a classier sport where technique and finesse are more important then physical strength.

One thing about soccer is that it's a cheaper sport to run in schools than say baseball, football and hockey. All the equipment these sports use is very costly.
I do predict basketball will overtake soccer as the number 1 sport in the world. It's already spreading like a virus there now.

I like soccer because it has the dimensions of team play as well as individual play and its constantly in motion. There is a lot of strategy and mental agility that goes into the game and you have to "feel" what is going on since its very dynamic and constantly developing. It's a terrific blend of skill, intelligence, speed, strategy, emotion, timing, calculated risk and luck, and art.

This probably has nothing to do with anything but when he was asked why, when the American fighting man came in contact with the German soldier during WWII, the American soldier was more agressive and tougher and in an overwhelming percentage of cases victorius, General George S. Patton said it was because the American grew up playing football and the German grew up playing soccer.

Yes I am a soccer fan. Altough I could never watch american soccer, that is just not good. Now brazilian and european soccer are a whole different sport. It is so well played that is good to watch. People have Super Bowl in America and it is quite popular I know but nothing compares to a final match of the World Cup. It is the most popular sport in the world.

Of course V, if I could watch the Brazilians go at it every week, that might be a different story. It's not even the same game when you look at that piece of shit, MLS.

Soccer typically is a low scoring game. The real action and scoring starts after it's over.

MLS ain't half bad for the money that's put into them. And you non soccer fans need to get off my thread. Btw, Russians grew up playing soccer and they'd beat the bejesus out of american males one for one. Europeans are much tougher then americans. They just dont always have the advantage of steroids and McD's coming out oof their ass.

Are you Russian? For some reason I thought you were a Brit.

I've tried and can't see the excitement in your sport. I enjoy the movement of the puck and strategy in Hockey, which some equate with soccer but the game seems interminably tedious (boring as hell). And what is the deal with not knowing when the damn game is going to end? The clock is always wrong it seems. They add time at the end. Nothing against Russians, but I've traveled there extensively and they are the most unhealthy group I've ever seen. I can't believe we ever perceived them as a threat.

Its effective playtime, the ref stops the clock during injuries, substitutions etc. The game is always 2*45 min, but not the 45 min on your tv, its 45 min on the refs wristwatches.

Yup, I'm Russian. Americans are well nourished and healthy but they just don't have any heart. Europeans are much more spirited. Hence, the world wars, the crusades, soccer riots, the holocaust, etc...

I'm Russian too, and I can't say that we're any better or worse then Americans. Pretty much the same, IMO.
