Hey, Jerry Rice, take off that jersey!

I have no problem with Rice and am glad he is a Seahawk, but a retired number is just that RETIRED!

I think Rice is wearing it to honor Largent and Largent is being cool for letting it happen, but the Seahawks should step in and say that a retired number is off-limits.

    Word.

I agree, Pepper. Rice should respect Largent enough to NOT wear the jersey. Largent was the greatest receiver the NFL had seen up until his retirement. What's Largent going to say, "No, you can't wear my jersey." Then he'd look like a dick. Rice needs to suck it up and pick another number.

In any case, good pickup by the Hawks.

    I totally agree - a retired number is...well RETIRED.

At the same time - I can see how it would be weird for him to switch numbers at this point in his career. He probably shouldn't have signed with a team that had retired his number

Agree about the number!!! However being a Rams fan, I am excited and nervous about getting to see him on a regular basis for a season anyway!!!

He'll be the fourth, maybe third receiver on Seattle, so he won't be that big a factor in that offense.

    Go Rams!!

He needs to do like my man Emmitt Smith and never put another jersey on at all. They are tarnishing thier great names and careers.

Completely agree Pepper. WTF is the deal here. Sometimes the only recognition a player gets after he is gone is a retired number. Leave it alone and get your own damn number ... than retire it if you can!!!

If Rice catches the ball like he has so far tonight, he can wear that jersey and have his way with my wife!

Well, since we have the Cards at home, I'd say we will win one more.

I have been saying for a while that we will "upset" the Falcons.

Viks and Jets on the road would take a miracle...so, I have us ending up at 8-8, missing the playoffs and looking for a new head coach.

The Rams have a loss to the Eagles coming, probably one to the Panthers, so sneaking into the playoffs is still possible.

Sorry Pepper that may not even be a given how they've been playing lately. Atleast my Dolphins have been consistant. Consistantly bad!

Largent offered Rice the number. I think Rice should have been the bigger man and take #8 or #08 atleast.

Rice called Largent and asked him. Largent said yes. However, what what he going to say "no!"

I am less upset about this now b/c Rice has busted his ass and played well...worthy of wearing the number in my opinion.

I still think that retired ought to mean retired though.

    I agree.

That's like somebody in the NHL (if it were around) asking if they could be #99. or into Boston and asking for #33.

When numbers are retired, it means they are RETIRED.

although Rice finally did have a good game on MNF

I know! Have a little fucking respect. When the 49ers retire #80, I think someone should always be able to wear it anyway.
