    Steroids in Baseball

I cannot believe so many people are supposedely shocked that baseball players have used steroids. There has been talk about it for years and I felt it was pretty much a foregone conclusion that many players used roids. Also why is Jason Giambi considered the worst offender because he told the truth before a grand jury, and don't tell me it was because he lied, after all his career was at stake. If Giambi were smart he would have lied to the Grand Jury like Barry Bonds. I guess it does pay to lie. Another thing is what about football? I am not sure of what type of testing program they have in place but I can tell you right now I think even more football players are on roids then baseball players. Do people feel it is o.k. for football players to be juiced up because of the nature of the sport but not baseball players? Hypocrisy everywhere. If I hear one more person say how shocked and outraged they are I will . Oh, by the way, at the risk of shocking anyone who reads these boards, some of the people here use steroids

Because people, and the media, are hypocrits, that's why.

We WANNA see the biggest/strongest/fastest athletes out there. so we almost want them taking steroids for our entertainment.

Then the athlete (Giambi) gets caught and tells the truth. If he would've lied, we would've said "why didn't he just tell the truth". but since he told the truth, we make the worst enemy outta him.

and like you said, i just loooooooove how its all of a sudden a big scandal b/c a few people finally got "caught", when this shit has been going on for years. oh ya, MLB, all of a sudden now you "care".

    forgot one thing...

people ask "why didn't giambi just tell the truth the first time". What? like Clinton?

BECAUSE PEOPLE JUMP DOWN YOUR FUCKIN' THROAT.

everyone is SO quick to judge others and make others' mistakes into such a big deal. THATS why people lie. THATS why Giambi didn't tell the truth at first. THATS why Bonds said he "didn't know" what he was taking. Because the fuckin' media crucifies these people for hopes of writing a "good" story and getting lotsa coverage.

So many athletes do things much worse than steroids. All kinds of criminal acts but they are not villified like a few ballplayers who take steroids are. All this crap about how steroids cut your life in half. While I beleive abusing them (using too much and the wrong kind) can cause adverse effects I am relatievely sure Arnold Schwarzanegger used them and he doesn't seem to be suffering any debiliatating diseases or anything. Just so you know I do not use steroids or never would but I think the media is just slamming anyone who would choose to do that and making assumptions about health risks that may not even be true. There are plenty of people who abuse drugs and alcohol and I get the feeling they are not villified anywhere close to the baseball players and like I said I am sure many football players are using steroids too. At first I was kind of thinking along the lines that there should be an asterik with the home run record but you know what, steroids were not illegal in baseball when this occured so if any players were using supplements to gain an advantage so be it. Through the years many althletes have used other substances to gain an advantage (greenies and red juice). Who knows what athletes of the future may be using to gain an advantage.

Let em use steroids. I can use roids and never hit a homer in my life. Steroids in sports are over-rated.

These are big boys they did something they weren't suppose to, knew the consequences, got caught, now they need to step up and deal with it like grown men. And by the way, if anyone thinks they do it for the fans, wake up. this is done for purely selfish reasons.. The almighty dollar.

lest we forget? steroids WERENT illegal in baseball, they were swept under the rug. and if this whole ridiculousness wasnt happening right now, it'd STILL be under the rug.

I never said they did it for the fans. But i did say it's the fans who WANT these guys to perform at the level they do...

Its different in the NFL. They do much stricter testing, and up untill recently it wasnt illegal to use in baseball.

Very true, but if I have a choice between spending $50 to see a juiced up athlete or $50 to see an au natural, I am gonna pay to see the guy who can launch the ball 600ft, regardless of what he is taking.
