So the Yanks have added Carl Pavano and Randy Johnson, and the Sox have added David Wells and John Halama and lost Pedro. Hmmm...who's done better here?

Looks like the only thing in the way right now is Shawn Green's no-trade clause. He's likes L.A., so he'll need some convincing to agree to go to Arizona. The money/salary stuff between the teams can always be worked out.

Johnson, Mussina, Brown, Pavano, Wright/Ishii. That staff is almost as good as their line-up.

I know he is a great pitcher but I really would prefer a younger good pitcher.
I am pretty sure Javier Vazquez is going to do just fine there, I am still pissed they let Lieber go.

From what I've heard/read, Lieber wanted to go back to the NL. He did pitch well for the Yankees.

Vasquez is a .500 pitcher. The only reason he got off to a great start in NY is because of the large number of runs the Yankees were scoring on his nights to pitch.
I for one would not mind seeing him leave in order to land Johnson.

As far as the "dead" trade goes, I read that a big reason why the trade died is that Javier Vasquez refused to report to L.A. for a physical. Personally, I think the Yanks are giving up too early on Vasquez.

Newsday, citing a source involved in the discussions, reported on its website last night that Yankees righthander Javier Vazquez does not want to play for the Dodgers and refused to travel to Los Angeles for a physical. The report said Vazquez's decision was the primary reason for the deal's collapse.

I agree with your last sentence, but yoru first sentence is way off. Have you seen his pre-Yankee stats?

Career record: 78 wins, 78 losses. Seems like .500 to me.

You also have to take into account that he pitched for the Montreal Expos, but from what I saw last year.......he scares me. Lets hope that it was because it was his first year in the American League and he also was pitching in New York City.

Johnson is hell-bent on gettin glory fast. So he might as well leave the Diamondbacks and head for the Yankees.
