Reggie White dies of heart attack
December 26, 2004
BRISTOL, Connecticut (Ticker) - Defensive end Reggie White, a lock for the Pro Football Hall of Fame who retired as the NFL's all-time sacks leader in 2000, died early Sunday of a heart attack at his home near Huntersville, North Carolina, ESPN reported.
White turned 43 last week.
Nicknamed "The Minister of Defense," White had 198 career sacks with the Philadelphia Eagles (1985-92), Green Bay Packers (1993-98) and Carolina Panthers (2000).
White went to two Super Bowls with Green Bay, winning a ring following the 1996 season.
"Today our beloved husband, father and friend passed away," White's wife, Sara, said in a statement, the network reported. "His family appreciates your thoughts and prayers as we mourn the loss of Reggie White. We want to thank you in advance for honoring our privacy."
He seemed like a nice guy and very giving to the community. He'll be missed

Damn. That is tragic. His family needed him at such a young age too. He will be missed ...
I agree with ya Camaro. He is the best bar none. In 60 years people will be making movies about the attempts at breaking his records.

Sad.

I love vegetarians, they're a great source of lean protien!
It is sad, he was great. I think he actually died of respiratory failure due to sleep apnea. I had a friend who died at 27 of the same thing.
If sense were common, everyone would have it.

Nobody's going to ask if it was juice-related, as it was reported near the end of his career?

R.I.P. Reggie White, he is already missed as I enjoyed watching him play.....
The sony playstation commercial with Joe Montana comes to mind where he keeps
repeating "REGGIE WHITE" as the answer to every question

I think the fact that pro athletes are finely tuned machines working out, running, practicing every day of their life and eating strict as possible. Then once they retire they cut out all fitness and nutrition and they shock their bodies. Just look at Barkley when he retired he ballooned up to 300 pounds in a month.Originally Posted by MTN WARRIOR
He MUST'VE died from steroids. There's NO way he could've had such a good swim-move without being all hopped up on juice
In all seriousness, he seemed like a great guy, and no doubt a helluva football player.
RIP, Reggie
You're a funny guy, Sully, I like you. Dat's why I'm going to kill you lahst.

No offense to anyone who uses steroids, but Reggie would have probably viewed anything illegal as against God's will, and we all know how dedicated Reggie was to his beliefs. The man was Integrity defined.
