Stats that are automatic...

What baseball stats do you think will guarantee entrance into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Like do you think every 300 game winning pitcher, person who hits 400+ homeruns, etc.

If sense were common, everyone would have it.

300 game winner - yes.
400 HRs - no. 500 HRs - yes.
3000 hits - probably yes, unless he played forever and had a sub .300 average.

Of course, unless they pull a Pete Rose.

400 HR's does not guarantee induction. Dave Kingman, Darrell Evans, Andre Dawson (I don't think he's in)...

500 HR or 3000 hits pretty much locks you in. 3000 K's for a pitcher...

I still can't believe Dawson is not in the Hall. He was a stud.

I agree, Kingman is an example of a 400 hitter that does not belong there.
Little Kingman fact- He started out as a pitcher.

Do the crime, pay the time.

He obviusly didn't learn anything from it, he lied about betting on baseball up until a year ago.

He should be in eventually, but I don't know that it should be right away.

q3That is true, I also think Shoeless Joe Jackson should be in there also, more so than Pete. It was his teammates who were crooked, Shoeless did not throw the world series and it reflects on both his batting and fielding average.

I was disappointed to hear Pete confess in a book after wards.
