This shot, clearly after Ruth had become ill, is one of my all-time favorite baseball photos.
That's what made him great, he was the best with kids. No matter how big he was.

You appear to be a man of great intelligence (and hey, if I'm wrong at least you are a Yankees fan) except there appears to be one missing.... where are the pics of Don Mattingly?

I won't argue that fact. I grew up in Indiana so didn't make it to Yankee Stadium too many times, but I still remember the first time I walked out and saw the field.... man it was awesome

I'm not a real big Yankee fan at all but I do remember Mattingly, and he was a good ball player. I don't know if he was an ass or not, but I thought Paul O Neil was one of the most solid players that the Yanks had.

He doesn't really look that fat there, either. I guess this must have been early in his career.

Most of the Yankee players from that time were good guys.
Paul was hard nosed player, he looked quiet to me but he sure had a temper. I have to add that he had a lot of heart.

He wasn't always fat, I would like to know how he managed to play the outfield later in his career when he became over wieght.
I even heard he played a decent outfield....who knows, with all those writers kissing his butt back then...
