    Went to Sabres home opener...

I dont know much about Hockey so I have a question for someone that does.

The Sabres won their opener at home 6 - 4. One of the goals was on an open net. Anyway at the end of the game the second star of the night was the Islanders goalie. He let in 5 goals but didnt have an awful game.

Now to my question. Was the star given to him at the end of the game a joke or a complement to the goalie?

I base all my hockey knowledge off of the videogame NHL 94 and in THAT game the only way a goalie could be a star would be to have a shutout. On rare occasion he could be a star if he let in 1 goal.

yes I am sure, can you not see I am from Canada

I didn't see this game, but the goalie might have stood on his head keeping his team in the game.

OK, he let in 5 goals, how many shots did he face? If he only faced five shots and let them all in, he's not a star, he's unemployed. If he face 100+ shots and only let in 5, he's a star. Also, the timing of the goals makes a difference. If he was facing a few 5 on 3's and he still shut out the opponent's power plays, he's a HUGE star. If he let in a shorthanded goal in a 5 on 3 situation he's looking for a job the next day. (Along with the defensemen on that line.)

    Yayyyyyyyyy................Hockey's back.

Booooooooooo...............the Flyers lost their opener 5-3 after blowing a 3-1 lead.

I protest that a Sabres player was given a star, even a gold one for spelling snowshoe properly.
If sense were common, everyone would have it.

Hey, speaking of the Sabers, I heard a few weeks ago that Domanik Hassek had re-signed with them. Did he do that just so he could retire as a Saber or is he actually on their roster?

I would love for him to stick around, he is an amazing goalie. There was mention of this a few months before the season started. I have no idea, but the stuff I heard was he was coming back to play.

Why are people ragging on the Sabres? They look like a top 10 team right now AND their like 15 million under the salery cap.
