    Ah to have deep pockets

MLB Notes: Taxes, revenue sharing mean Yankees lose money

    By Seattle Times news services

NEW YORK — Despite drawing more than 4 million fans, the Yankees lost between $50 million and $85 million for the 2005 season, several major-league baseball sources told the New York Daily News. The benefactors of baseball, who pumped more than $200 million into their payroll and almost $110 million into revenue sharing and luxury tax, are deep in the red this year.
"Yes, even George has his limits," one source said.
Add this to the $37 Million they lost in the 2004 campaign

Yet still the owner is willing to do what it takes to field a winning team. More than can be said for Florida, Pittsburg, Milwalkee, etc, etc, etc

Say what you want about George S. (I don't like his tactics much myself.) But at least he tries to win, instead of just sucking $$$ out of a city to line his own pockets.
Rules? You mean we have RULES for that???

I have no problem with him wanting to win. It is the trickle down effect to smaller market teams, that can no longer afford keeping prospects they develop or sign free agents cause of inflated Salaries.

These Teams with astronomical salaries are having a profound effect on the growth of baseball

Oh and I hate the Yankees

BTW..... they are expecting the first $100 seats for next season at Yankee stadium.

I don't blame the Yankees (or any other single team) for that. I blame the league. They set up the rules to favor big $$$. The owners who have the cash are just playing within the rules that have been set up.

P.S. I wish Steinbrenner would buy the Phillies.

We playing each other this year? You remember Ty Domi in our penalty box when that fan crashed in on him? That was some of the funniest shit I've ever seen at a pro sports event.

Yeah I think we have met twice.... Leafs won the first match up and Flyers the second both the same score if I remember.

Yeah that was a classic moment. They bring that douche bag fan on the sports radio shows here during playoff matchups with Philly LOL
