Yeah, but they're going to need a different sport to latch onto.

The way Boxing has been going the last few years it looks like that will be the sport......Americans lost the heavyweight division and no longer rule in any division.

Nah, boxing is gay. Hopefully it will die out soon and be replaced by MMA.

well the world seems to be taking over baseball and basketball, so I guess it's only fair that we steal soccer.

Personally, I want to see an American Rules Football world tournament.

moving up the ranking is one thing(good) but to win the world cup is another,
its how far you get in the world cup is how your rated.
Its the acid test were you play the best, not teams in friendly matches and
    regional area cups

sorry but dont you guys watch sports?
americans just lost the wbc to MEXICO and the americans are supposed to be so superior to everyone else in baseball.
Olympic hockey was equally as embarassing for the u.s and also at the last summer olympics in athens when the U.S mens basketball team did absolutely nothing, and arent they supposed to be so great??

i think superior is a bit far fetched

    You are incorrect.

No one who knows anything about baseball was surprised to see the US get knocked out. Disappointed, yes...but not surprised.

You can rule at "soccer" while the rest of the world plays football but I must say your USA goalkeeper is playing well over here in England but you still have a long way to go to catch up with most European/African and South American teams.

Soccer will never be big in the US. Kids play it until they are 12 then they realize what a bore it is and quit.

IAB is correct, no surprise that the US lost in baseball. The world has caught and even passed us in baseball. Pluse it was just the beginning of spring training for us and teams like Cuba are in mid-season form.

The US still dominates in basketball. The world has gotten better, but the best basketball players BY FAR are born here.

I guess I was watching us dominate every other sport in that olympics to notice the basketball team lost.

Cubans win every baseball title... do a search of previous baseball tournament victories, and you will see cuba wins a good majority of them
