Don't forget Jordan staal who is 18 and should be playing in the OHL right now.

And Marc-Andre Fluery, one of the best young goalies around.

The only thing that sucks is these kids will start being unrestricted free agents in 3-5 years.

Besides Ovechkin, we finally got our other young ALex (Semin) back from Russia, and our newest first round pick is leading the minors in goals.


The competition between Crosby and Ovechkin last year was great to watch, but I still think Ovechkin is a real man and Crosby is a bitch. Alexander the Great has some highlight reel hits, that one goal from his back, and last week shattered the plexi glass on a hit.

Well *thankfully* the NHL has a salary cap now, so players should have fewer options on where they can go. Sucks for me though as a Detroit fan because now the Wings can't just buy everyone.

Yeah I think the salary cap is gonna severely lessen the Avalanche - Red Wings rivalry.

Salary cap or not these will be star players on whatever team they go to, and would get payed according to that. Meaning that Pittsburgh won't be able to afford to keep them all.

the pens either capitalize within the next 2-3 years or it slips away.

this is not their year. staal is not used to a long nhl season and will fade. malkin might, MIGHT, face the same problem, i am not familiar with the length of the russian elite league. he is a good player, his first goal in the nhl was still complete b.s.

the pens still have no D, so i doubt this will last.

I know he was furious last night. He completely lost it with two minutes left in the game. We were down by one and he got himself thrown out.

Sort of. Like Iain said, he was figting for the puck behind the net and gave the defender a stone cold elbow to the chin. When he got called for it he blew up and started raving at the ref. That's when the escorted him off the ice. He didn't actually get a game misconduct, but they gave him about 14 PIM's and there were only two minutes left in the game.
