It also depends if you were a preferred walk on, or some guy just trying out

A preferred walk on is where the team asks you to try out and a regular walk on is you just show up to the try outs. Preferred walk ons are usually on the team but they don't receive any scholarship money, because you cant give scholarships to everyplayer.

If you are not recruited out of high school by a college program, they will typically hold try outs for those people that think they can make the team. Usually, the walk ons round out the practice squad and scout teams (not always though...but usually).

I was designated preferred walked on at D1 college, it just meant they saved me a spot on the team, but weren't offering a scholarship... Didn't play till JR year, but earned a scholarship for SR year for being a longsnapper believe it or not. I got recruited at D-1AA and D-2 schools and probably would have got a lot of run. But, I wouldn't trade the experience of playing ifo 90,000 people for anything.
I hope that donkey doesn't have a heinie troll!
