    Tits!

Rumor has it the Sox offered six years at $8 million per, but he was asking 6 years and $11 million per. 6 years/$66 million isn't unreasonable.

BTW, I'm not surprised a deal was reached. I fully expected it all along. Everyone had to much to lose by allowing this to fall through (Red Sox, Matsuzaka, Scott Boras, the Japanese team).

You guys are going to lose. You might as well just cheer for me, because Boston isn’t winning in Boston for the season opener. I’m sorry. " - Gilbert Arenas

Now just swoon Clemens away from the stro's and yankees and the Red Sox are going to be favorites.

Lot of potential in our rotation now. I'd like to see us pick up a decent closer and turn Papelbon into a starter.

I dont see Papelbon as a starter, he never lasted when they tried it before.

I dunno. He has started only 3 games and the Sox won all three of them.

He was always a starting pitcher until the Sox needed a closer, so they turned him into a closer. He has the potential to be a front line starting pitcher. I'd rather see him as a starter than a closer.

Look at the Sox starting pitcchers:

    Curt Schilling
    Jonathan Papelbon
    Daisuke Matsuzaka
    Josh Beckett
    Tim Wakefield
    Jon Lester

God damn does that look good paper. Rumor has it the Sox were entertaining offers for Josh Beckett if a top notch closer was included in the deal.

No news on Manny. I think the Sox realized trading Manny without getting as equal a hitter in return would seriously diminish JD Drew's impact on the lineup. A 3-4-5 lineup of Ortiz, Ramirez and Drew is going to be fun to watch.

I wonder what the Sox are going to do with Matt Clement. You haven't heard a word about him and they still owe him a shitload of money. Middle relief would be my guess, or trade him for a prospect if they can find a team dumb enough to take his contract.

Lester's cancer is in remission and he plans to be in Spring Training right on schedule. All indications are that he'll be 100% come opening day.
