In my opinion, if the Cardinals front office thought they were in it this season, they might have given Carpenter a chance to pitch. It makes no sense for the Cards to try and rush Carpenter back when they aren't going any place as is.
Wise move, and hopefully your team's sake, he'll be back in the fold next season.

I think if he was healthy this year we are right up there. Reyes was like 0-10! Carpenter atleast wins 60% of his games so that atleast a 5 game swing.....and they are like 10 games or less back now. So they would atleast been in it.

Speaking of the Cards, whatever happend to anthony reyes? I drafted him in the late rounds of my fantasy team, only to be really bad, and then banished to the minors. I thought he would be a good sleeper pick this year.
