    per Foxsports.com

He does have to waive the no trade clause though.

    Excellent pick-up.

    Papelbon
    Okajima
    Gagne

Best bullpen in baseball. Find another team with three better pitchers in the pen.

    Whaaaaaattt?!? Nooo waaaay!

I think this guy is good but why do we need him? We have Delcarmen, Okajima, Timlin and Papelbon. The bullpen has been the best in the majors. We don't need pitching. We need another power bat to fill in for JD Drew and Wily Mo Pena. They both suck.

Not that i'm against it ... but do we really need him?

Timlin has been a disaster this year and is hurting. The Sox needed another bullpen arm. I agree that we need another middle-of-the-lineup bat, but we also needed bullpen help and addressed that need.

NESN is reporting that Gagne agreed to waive his no-trade clause and be the setup man. Boston will send Kason Gabbard, David Murphy and Engel Beltre to Texas. Bummer to see Gabbard go.

Paps won't start. This just gives us insurance and lessens the load that Paps will have to carry the rest of the year.

This is an odd twist, the Yankees refusing to give up their future while Boston traded a decent prospect.
This rivalry will continue for a while with these two GMs.

Passing on reliever Eric Gagne at the trading deadline doesn't seem like such a bad idea right now, especially after he was blowing a big lead for the Red Sox on the same night Chamberlain was blowing away the Indians

The Red Sox really didn't give up much. Infact, due to Gagne being a Type A free agent, odds are that the Red Sox will receive two better players (two draft picks) than the Rangers received in Gagne's return.

Even if the Red Sox didn't give up much, they still got this bum. It's too bad, he may be done...

He really isn't doing anything different than he did in Texas. He's having a lot of trouble with his control and his velocity isn't what it was when he was a Dodger.

He's really screwing himself over, at this point. Whose going to pay him knowing what they now know?

I am sure there is some apprehension following the Tommy John surgery. He needs to break through that mental block.

There is no way it's entirely mental, in my opinion.

He's been very hittable, his control has been off. He really hasn't done anything exceptionally well.

He won't be in a pressure situation for a while, so we shall see.

I say he does a couple special things before the season ends.

Gagne's been worse than Kyle Farnsworth.

Myers was a waste. Brought in to get lefties out, he couldn't even do that. I couldn't wait for the Yankees to get rid of him.

Proctor could eat up a lot of innings, but he was too inconsistent. Getting Betemit has been an upgrade over Cairo, at least so far.

Surprising as it may seem, the Yankees have an abundance of middle relievers now. Chamberlain, Vizcaino, and Ramirez when the game is on the line. Farnsworth, Villone, and Henn for blowouts or extra innings.
